All Forward Collision Avoidance Adaptive Cruise Control Complaints
Randomly, the power steering, ABS, and traction control went out on my car. There are thousands of others with this issue and previous years of this car have already had a recall relating to this issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while attempting to leave her residence, it was difficult to maneuver the steering wheel. The contact continued to drive the vehicle when several unknown warning lights displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a power steering rack failure and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the "Pre-Collision Assist Unavailable" and "Cruise Control" messages were displayed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the cruise control module; however, the dealer was unable to diagnose a failure with the Pre-Collision assist failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000. The VIN was not available.
The transmission began slipping causing poor control at higher speeds using the cruise control or passing gear. Only about 42,000 miles on the vehicle and no financial help from Ford. My touch screen isn’t working properly and I have brand new converters in there is smoke coming out of my tail pipes, also I have to jump my vehicle every time I want to go somewhere.
WENT TO THE BEACH THIS PAST SATURDAY AND AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE TURNING LANE FOR THE STATE PARK AND ALARM WENT OFF SAYING DRIVE ASSIST CONTROL FAILURE, AND NUMEROUS THINGS THAT NO LONGER WORK, SINCE THEN THERE HAS BEEN NO POWER STEERING AND IT WAS A MIRACLE WE GOT IT HOME WHICH WAS AN HOUR AND A HALF AWAY, HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE GOING FASTER THEN I COULD OF LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 10 MPH WHEN IT ALARMED. THE PICTURES SHOW WAS ALERTS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED NOW. THIS MORNING THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE SO MY GIRLFRIEND WHO DRIVES THE EXPLORER HAS TO USE THE BACK UP CAR THAT CAN'T HOLD ALL OF OUR KIDS.
