The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal and stalled. In addition, the vehicle vibrated before losing power. The vehicle stalled at an intersection. The contact was stopped for hours, and the vehicle failed to restart. After six hours, the tow truck arrived, and the contact restarted the vehicle. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the yellow warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact's brother, a mechanic, inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the crankshaft position sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. HAD JUST FILLED GAS TANK FIFTEEN MINUTES EARLIER. DRIVING ON MOUNTAIN RD. SLOWED FOR CURVE AND ENGINE QUIT, ALMOST RAN INTO LOGGING TRUCK HEADON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER FILLUP. ONCE WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON FREEWAY. SLOWED TO LET ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND ENGINE QUITE AS SOON AS I TOUCHED THE BRAKES. WHEN I FILL GAS TANK IT USUALLY DIE AT FIRST STOP. DOES THIS UNTIL I HAVE USED UP SOME OF THE GAS. HAVE ASKED DEALER WHO SOLD THE TRUCK TO ME TO LOOK INTO THIS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I GET KILLED. NO RESPONSE. I NO LONGER DRIVE THAT ROAD JUST AFTER FILL UP. HAVE CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT SEVERAL 1500 RAM OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WILL BE LIKE THE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM. DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS ON THEIR HEMI MODEL TRUCKS. HAVE READ ON MULTIPLE WEB-SIGHTS THAT THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM! I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON AND DANGEROUS WITH LIMITED SUCCESS ON FINDING A REPAIR SOLUTION. *TR
MY TRUCK STALLS AS I COME TO A STOP. THIS HAPPENS PROBABLY ABOUT 4 TIMES A MONTH SINCE THE DATE ABOVE. THE DEALERSHIP HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ ON FORUMS ONLINE THAT A TON OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME SAY IT HAS TO DO WITH ERG VALVE AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. THEY SAID THEY REPLACE THE EGR VALVE AND THE PROBLEM IS FIXED.

MY 2004 DODGE RAM 1500 PICK UP WITH A 5.7 LITER ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL UPON BRAKING AND COMING TO A STOP. THE ENGINE WOULD LOSE RPM AND DIE (STALL) LEAVING ME WITH NO BRAKES OR STEERING. IT WOULD RESTART EASILY BUT OCCUR AGAIN FREQUENTLY. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND AFTER EXTENSIVE AND EXPENSIVE DIAGNOSIS WAS FOUND TO HAVE A FAILING THROTTLE BODY AND ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL FAILURE. A NEW THROTTLE BODY WAS OBTAINED FROM DODGE (DIFFERENT PART NUMBER FROM ORIGINAL) AND INSTALLED. TOTAL COST FOR THE WORK WAS APPROXIMATELY $2,500.00. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS EXTENSIVE IN THIS MODEL AND IS DANGEROUS.
2004 RAM 1500 5.7 HEMI STALLS AT LOW ENGINE SPEEDS, OFTEN AT STOP SIGNS, TRAFFIC LIGHTS, OR PARKING LOT MANEUVERS. WILL USUALLY START IMMEDIATELY BACK UP, SOMETIMES REQUIRES SLIGHT ACCELERATOR PRESSURE WHEN CRANKING IN ORDER TO OBTAIN SELF-SUSTAINING ENGINE SPEED. DURING DECELERATIONS, ENGINE RPM IS ERRATIC AND WILL OFTEN ENCOUNTER A DROP IN RPMS TO APPROXIMATELY 400 RPM BEFORE ENGINE DIES. ISSUE SEEMS TO BE MORE COMMON WHEN ENGINE IS COLD, BUT HAS OCCURED UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. THIS HAS BEEN A PERSISTENT PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 1.5 YEARS, HAPPENING ANYWHERE FROM ONCE A DAY TO A DOZEN TIMES. MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND MECHANICS HAVE LOOKED AT THIS, WITHOUT RESULT. THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN UPDATED, THE SENSORS, EGR VALVE, AND INTAKE MANIFOLD CLEANED, AND THE THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN REPLACED. STILL NOT FIXED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED . THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE, DANGEROUS, AND FRUSTRATING CONDITION. HAVING 3 KIDS IN THE CAR...

I HAVE DONE EVEYTHING TO MAINTAIN THE TRUCK PERFECTLY. I HAD THE GSR VALVE REPLACED AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE RAM 1500. THE VEHICLE STALLED WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED ON THREE OCCASIONS. ON FOUR OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 10-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED TWICE THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
I OWN A 2004 DODGE 1500 QUAD CAB. AT ABOUT 35,000 MILES WHEN I CAME TO A STOP MY TRUCK WOULD JUST DIE. THERE WOULD BE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR ANYTHING TO MAKE YOU THINK SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I TOOK IT AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC RAN ON IT THERE WOULD NEVER BE ANY CODE. TO THIS DATE MY TRUCK IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I HAVE SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT ALONE. BEFORE THE OCCURRENCES, MY 5.7L RAM 1500 WOULD SPUTTER ON IDLE AND WHEN FIRST PUT INTO GEAR, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON FOR ABOUT 25 MILES AND THEN GO BACK OFF. WHEN THE CODE WAS CHECKED FOR THE LIGHT, THE FORWARD PASSENGER-SIDE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS SHOWING VOLTAGE HIGH. I REPLACED THE SENSOR, CLEARED THE CODES AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR A WHILE. THE FIRST EVENT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A SMALL ROAD-WHEN I TURNED, THE TRUCK DIED. I BOUGHT MY TRUCK USED APPROXIMATELY DEC 1, 2005 WITH 49,500 KM ON THE ODOMETER. IT IS A 2004 DODGE QUAD CAB 1500 WITH A 5.7L HEMI ENGINE. APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO THE ENGINE STOPPED. I WAS DRIVING ALONG A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT BETWEEN 20 AND 30 KM/HR. MY FOOT WAS BARELY ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. THERE WAS NO WARNING (I.E. NO HESITATION, STUMBLING OR MIS-FIRE). I OWN A 2004 DODGE RAM WITH THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. THE ENGINE IN MY TRUCK HAS STALLED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND GOING INTO A TURN. ONCE ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH! THIS HAPPENS MOST WHEN TURNING ON CITY STREETS OR PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. THE DEALER HAS FLASHED THE PCM 3 TIMES AND IT STILL HAS THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN FOR THIS PROBLEM THE DEALER SCREWED WITH THE TIMING, FUEL AIR MIXTURE AND IDLE ALL IN POOR ATTEMPT TO KEEP IT FROM STALLING. DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS HAPPENED WHILE SITTING STILL AND JUST RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 15 MPH. THIS INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED DOZENS OF TIMES, AND APPEARS TO OCCUR MOST FREQUENTLY DURING NO OR LIGHT THROTTLE CONDITIONS SUCH AS DRIVING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR DOWN A LONG GRADE. STALLS HAVE ALSO OCCURRED WHEN SWITCHING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE (IN PARKING LOTS) AND DURING THE FIRST START-UP OF THE DAY IF THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING. NINETY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE TIME, THERE IS NO WARNING (IE, STUMBE) THAT THE ENGINE IS EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM.
