2017 DODGE DURANGO Unknown Or Other Problems

I had just parked my vehicle in my drive and turned it off. I opened my door then sat back in my seat to stretch my back, sitting straight up with my head against the headrest, before getting out. As soon as I leaned my head against the headrest it, for lack of better terms, exploded into the back of my head. It hit me with such force I was not sure what had happened as there was nobody around me that could’ve cause it. Sure enough there was no accident to cause it. I have had a headache and back pain for a week due to it.

I'm reporting the race track tailgate light on my 2017 durango has been taking in water from top of the light. I have been reading about a law suit against Dodge cause of this issue on 2014 thru 2023 dodge durango. So im putting my complaint in on my cause its doing the same thing. part of the lower left side on mine has shorted out due to the water leaking from the top of the race track light.

Bought a used 17 durangoGT on July 29th 2024 notice a crack in tail light and told the used car manager about it and brushed it off now there is an issue with racetrack light and water is getting in and is now half lite the dealer said there isn’t a problem so took it to dodge and had a 2nd option and they said it was the crack and on top of that there is a class action lawsuit against dodge for the track light and it can cause electrical issues and license plate light and rear camera issues this is unsafe and I got a invoice from dodge of the issue too

Just bought the vehicle two months ago and have had to replace multiple things on the vehicle. The first issue was the diming lights and passenger window rolling down while driving along with remote start not working got that fixed now the car wants to turn on when it feels like it. It could be working for two weeks straight then you go to turn the car on after just turning it off five minutes prior and it does not wanna work you mess with the wires, try to jumpstart the wires and unhook the passenger seat heat and adjuster then it starts..

Car started leaking coolant underneath. The dealership told us the lines that control the rear heat are leaking. And it’s a major job. $ 3100.00 we were told. The coolant lines are back ordered and have had it for over 5 weeks and still not fixed. That is ridicules for a vehicle with only 74K…

Shifter knob moves freely without having foot on brake so the shifter doesn’t lock into a gear. Message appears on dash “Service Shifter”.

The sunroof spontaneously exploded and shattered all over while driving on the highway at approximately 65 miles an hour. Mother and child were in the vehicle. The sunroof was opened on "vent" position. The sunroof cover was also opened (cover inside the vehicle) Mother and child sustained minor physical injuries however, this could have been a major much bigger accident with many other vehicles on the road involved.

When driving on the freeway I went to accelerate the car then begin to accelerate by itself even when I was hitting the brakes it would not slow down. Finally after a few seconds it slowed down. About a week after that started feeling like the transmission was having issues. Now I cannot drive my car. And this happened about three times with the acceleration of the car doing that by itself.

When driving the vehicle there is loss of acceleration and doesn't go faster than 10 miles per hour while I was on the freeway. I had to pull over to a stop on a busy freeway with 4 children and myself a single mother. I was scared that I may be rear ended while on the freeway. I had it towed to the dealer and they said it was the transmission.

When shifting the vehicle it says “service shifter”. Once again I look up this issue on the web and hundreds of others are saying they have the same issue with jeeps and a variety of dodge vehicles.

Passenger headrest deployed without being in a car accident

ON JANUARY 6, 2020, I PLACED MY 2017 DODGE DURANGO INTO PARK IN MY HOME'S DRIVEWAY AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, LEAVING THE EMPTY VEHICLE IDLING. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF PARK AND INTO DRIVE AND ROLLED AWAY, FORWARD, INTO MY GARAGE, CAUSING SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE. I HAVE THE INCIDENT RECORDED ON VIDEO, BUT I AM UNABLE TO UPLOAD IT TO THIS WEBSITE. I WILL HAPPILY FORWARD IT BY EMAIL OR OTHER MEANS IF REQUESTED. I ALSO HAVE PHOTOS OF THE GARAGE DAMAGE. COMPLAINT INVOLVING SHIFTING PROBLEMS. WHEN I GET IN MY CAR AND I PUT IN DRIVE THE LIGHT STARTS FLASHING AND MY VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE. I HAVE TO PUT IN PARK TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT BACK ON AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN UNTIL IT FINALLY CATCHES THE GEARS AND LETS ME DRIVE OFF. I ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. THE LIGHT THAT FLASHES IS THE ONE ABOVE THE SHIFTING NOB.

WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO PARK AND YOU EXIT IT WILL SOMETIMES STILL DRIVE FORWARD. WHEN SWITCHING INTO REVERSE OR PARK THE CAR SOMETIMES LOCKS UP AND WONT MORE. THE RPMS GO UP BUT ITS STILL AS IF ITS IN PARK. I HAD TO PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE TO TRY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO REVERSE. MY WIFE WAS REMOVING GROCERIES AND THE CAR STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. SHE HAD TO GET INTO THE CAR AND PRESS THE BREAK. THESE CONDITIONS HAVE HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS AT A STOP OR PARKED. BURNING SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS DURING ENGINE OPERATION ABOVE 4000 RPM. IT IS CONSISTENTLY HAPPENING SINCE BRAND NEW AND NOW AT 10,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR VARIOUS OTHER REASONS AND THIS WAS REPORTED EVERY TIME. DEALER ADVISED US TO LEAVE CLIMATE CONTROL ON RECIRCULATION. THERE IS ALSO A DIFFERENT STRONGER EXHAUST SMELL THAT COMES INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN IDLING FOR S LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THIS HAPPENS INCONSISTENCY BUT IS SO STRONG THAT IT MAKES THE OCCUPANTS SICK. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS SMELL FOR THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE TECHNICIAN. DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN CONTACTED REGARDING THESE ISSUES.

MY BRAND NEW DODGE DURANGO SXT 2017 WAS STOLEN AT A SERVICE STATION. I GOT OUT OF MY CAR THAT WAS ON AND LOCKED. THIS PERSON USED SOME TYPE OF DEVICE TO OPEN IT WITHOUT THE KEY. IT IS 36 DAYS OLD.

NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED YET BUT I BELIEVE ONE WILL. THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A ROTARY TRANSMISSION SELECTOR FOR DRIVE BY WIRE TRANSMISSION AND HAS AN AUTO ENGINE STOP START FEATURE. THIS START STOP FEATURE CAN BE DISABLED AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, BUT CANNOT BE SET BY DEFAULT TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE. I UNDERSTAND THE FUEL SAVING ISSUE, HOWEVER BUT MANY OF US HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY YEARS AND WE DO A LOT OF THINGS UNCONSCIOUSLY BECAUSE THESE ACTIVITIES ARE SO COMMON TO US. WHEN THIS FEATURE IS ACTIVATED AND YOU COME INTO YOUR DRIVE WAY, YOUR GARAGE OR A PARKING SPACE AND FULLY COME TO A STOP, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND ALL GOES QUIET.
