Several repairs for sensor Labor: Check and advise the check engine light is on and the vehicle wants to stall when accelerating. Vehicle loses engine power but has not stalled completely (low/reverse solenoid circuit. Test and replaced transmission solenoid assembly; cost: $819.65, prior to that $1200.00, $546.00. I'm unemployed and the truck costing more repairs. The plastic on radiator has cracked all the way cross and leaks coolant, stop radiator leak encourage by dealership and to seal leak or replace radiator (it's upsetting and its cost me thousands of dollars, my last two SUV was dodge Durango and I love them but this one has given the most problems and cost me financially. In the winter of 2020 i had to use my 4wd lock in my durango. It never come out of 4wd lock. As a former ase technician and auto center manager I have to say dodge has a mess on their hands. 1st off its ridiculous to stop the flow of technical information to the owners of chrysler vehicles due to globalization!? I have been working on this vehicle for months as my patience allows. All testing and troubleshooting place the issue back into electrical issues within these durangos. This is a dangerous problem so many people own older dodge & chrysler products affected by this transfer case problem, recall it and get it done! Now it has to go to a chrysler dealer to have the codes cleared by a dodge scanner. Issue with that is the local dodge dealer in the village i live is not known for...
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF AND LOCK THE STEERING WHEEL. IT HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN AM TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND GET IT OUT OF THE ROAD BEFORE BEING HIT.
THE 4WD SVC LIGHT WILL COME ON AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. SOMETIMES IT WILL BE SHIFTING INTO 4X4 ON IT'S ON AND WHEN I MAKE A TURN, I CAN FEEL THE 4X4 WORKING WITHOUT EVER PHYSICALLY TURNING IT ON. OTHER TIMES, I CAN HEAR THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR MAKING NOISE FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR OR PRESS THE KEY FOB BUTTON. I PULLED A TROUBLE CODE OF C1404. FURTHER RESEARCH OF THIS CODE AND ISSUE RESULTS IN OVER 500 COMPLAINTS ONLINE. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER BEFORE THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. SOMETIMES THE DURANGO SHIFTS ROUGHLY AS YOU ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE. AS TIME HAS GONE ON THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME MORE PERSISTENT. I FINALLY TOOK MY DURANGO IN TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF THESE PARTS BEING REPLACED, MY DURANGO AGAIN BEGAN STALLING OUT. SO $1400 DOLLARS LATER AND 5 DAYS I PICKED UP MY CAR AND 3 MILES AWAY FROM SHOP THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK THEY DID A TEST THE CODES WHERE COMING BACK AS A WEIRD CODES. THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT COMES ON. THE TRANSFER CASE ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES WHEN THE INTERIOR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN ITS NOT RUNNING. 4WD TURNS ON AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN TURNING AND LOCKS UP THE WHEELS. WHEN THE DASH LIGHT TURNS ON THE 4WD DASH SWITCH DOESN'T WORK. I WAS TOLD ENCODER MOTOR OR SERVO MOTOR OR FRONT CONTROL MODULE. SOUNDS LIKE IT HAPPENS A LOT AND ITS A WIRING PROBLEM. AT RANDOM TIMES, INCLUDING WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO AWD WILL ENGAGE THE 4WD. IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN YOU INSERT THE KEY AND BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE. IT ALSO MAKES THE CLICKING SOUND AS IF IT IS ENGAGING WHEN YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS (POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM?) IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING WHILE TURNING A CORNER, SUCH AS THE SHARP CORNERS IN A DRIVE-THRU. THE EFFECT IS SUCH THAT ONE WHEEL LOCKS UP AS IF ONE FRONT WHEEL HAS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. UNFORTUNATELY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DURANGO FROM THE FIRST WEEK OF PURCHASE IN 2006. THE CURRENT ISSUE AND IS VERY SCARY WHILE DRIVING IS THE 4 LO LIGHT WILL QUICKLY FLASH RAPIDLY FOR SEVERAL FLASHES AND THEN STOPS. THE CAR WILL HESITATE AND SEEMS TO BECOME ENGAGED IN 4 LO ALL ON ITS OWN. IT ALSO MAKES A NOISE WHEN UNLOCKING VEHICLE THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING UNDER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO HAS AN INNUMERABLE AMOUNT OF ISSUES LIKE A CRACKED PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD FROM A BAD BOLT AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHERE THE RADIO AND OVERHEAD LIGHT ONLY WORK WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT - BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THIS TRANSMISSION. THIS MORNING I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO LEAVE THE DRIVEWAY AND AS I SHIFTED TO GO INTO DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. IT WOULDN'T GO INTO DRIVE, REVERSE OR EVEN NEUTRAL.
