Fuel spills out when you fill it up. I read there were safety recalls due to this issue for 2006 Dodge Durango's but a recall isn't appearing for my vehicle. When filling it fills fine until almost a full tank. Once it reaches full tank the gas pump clicks off then a gush of fuel spills out of my car. I bought it last year and it does it every time we put a full tank in it if you don't catch it and manually shut pump off before full. Bought the car used
Every time filling full of gas, once full it SPRAYS gas into the air for 2 to 3 seconds. It's evident this is a manufacturing defect as multiple self reported incidents can be found online throught the years. This is vreating a significant fire risk as other vehicles can be pulling up near by. Date provided isn't accurate as this is constant if we let it fill
Several repairs for sensor Labor: Check and advise the check engine light is on and the vehicle wants to stall when accelerating. Vehicle loses engine power but has not stalled completely (low/reverse solenoid circuit. Test and replaced transmission solenoid assembly; cost: $819.65, prior to that $1200.00, $546.00. I'm unemployed and the truck costing more repairs. The plastic on radiator has cracked all the way cross and leaks coolant, stop radiator leak encourage by dealership and to seal leak or replace radiator (it's upsetting and its cost me thousands of dollars, my last two SUV was dodge Durango and I love them but this one has given the most problems and cost me financially. Plus, when I purchased the dealership replace windshield because of flaw in glass and it wasn't repaired correctly and Oakland County Sheriff said my truck was dangerous, but you said it was fine. Fuel erupts from fuel filler neck EVERY TIME the fuel tank is filled, even when filling very slowly. A half-gallon or more of fuel ends up violently spitting out of the filler neck onto people in the vicinity, onto the side of the car, and onto the ground—every time the vehicle is refueled. Many owners apparently have the exact same issue, judging by the large number of complaints on Durango and Dodge forums. Apparently, there was a recall covering model-year 2005 Durangos for this issue, but the issue is present on our 2006 Durango. This is a clear safety defect that could easily create an extremely dangerous situation.
TIPM / PCM (Computer modules) these items are affecting most Dodge vehicles that is listed already for recalls only in 2011-2013 and one earlier. This is happening in a lot of Dodges, mine is 1D4HB48N76F[XXX] (2006 Durango 4.7 SLT). They will stop running anywhere, it shuts the fuel pump off where the vehicles no longer gets gas and you have a full tank. It is only a computerized Dealer fix. Their recall for some vehicles will fix my 2006 also by the simply relay bypass that they are installing. THE GAS TANK OVERFILLS WHEN FILLING THE TANK. WHEN I FILL THE TANK AT THE GAS STATION THE PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL AFTER THE TANK OVERFLOWS ONTO THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND.

IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THE 2005 MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 195000 MILES. THERE WAS INDEED A RECALL FOR THE 2005 AND 2006 MODEL YEARS OF MY VEHICLE FROM CHRYSLER FOR A FUEL SAFETY ISSUE OF MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF FUEL SPILLING OUT OF THE TANK DURING FUEL UPS. THEY ACKNOWLEDGE, THE RECALL WAS CUT OFF EXACTLY ONE DAY PRIOR TO THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURING DATE. THE PART IDENTIFIED WAS A FAULT WITH THE FUEL INLET CHECK VALVE. DODGE IDENTIFIED THE ONLY RECOURSE FOR THIS VEHICLE IS TO PETITION THE NHTSA AND HOPE THEY RECALL IT TO REPLACE IT BY DODGE, OR PAY FOR A REPAIR MYSELF OUT OF POCKET FOR A KNOWN AND ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD WITH THE VEHICLE AND I AM NOTICING THE SAME ISSUE ON ALL DODGE DURANGOS I OBSERVE ON THE ROAD NOW, WITH RUSTY QUARTER PANELS DUE TO FUEL SPILL AND SATURATION ISSUES IN THE SAME SPOT.
DURING FUEL UP IT OVER SPILLS OUT A LOT OF FUEL EACH TIME AT THE GAS STATION. I SEE THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THE PRIOR YEARS OF THE SAME VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS.

HIL ADDING GAS, THE FUEL OVERFLOW DOES NOT SHUT OFF WHEN FULL. GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE TUBE AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE DURANGO AND ONTO THE GROUND. THERE IS CONSIDERABLE RUSTING UNDER THE FILL TUBE. I PURCHASED THSI VEHICLE 4 YEARS AGO AND IT HAS ALWAYS DONE THIS. THE RUST AREA HAD BEEN REPAIRED PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING SO I AM ASSUMING THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE MY OWNERSHIP AS WELL.
MY CAR HAS A VERY BAD HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION AND SHUTTERS WHEN THE PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR. THE CODE I'M GETTING IS A DEALER PART ONLY AND I'VE FOUND THAT 4 OUT OF FIVE DODGE DURANGO OR CHRYSLER ASPEN HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY EXPENSIVE TRIAL AND ERROR PROCESS. MY SISTER WHO OWNS A 2008 ASPEN JUST REPLACED THE SAME PART I NEED TO REPLACE FOR ALMOST 1,000 DOLLARS AND THAT'S NOT THE ONLY TIME I'VE HEARD OF THIS COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SOLENOIDS FROM THIS HEMI ENGINE. IT'S NOT ALLOWS ALL CYLINDERS TO WORK BECAUSE THIS FAULTY PART IS MALFUNCTIONING. PLEASE RECALL THIS PART SO I'M SURE 75% OF THE OWNERS CAN FINALLY HAVE A RELIABLE VEHICLE AND NOT GET STRANDED LIKE OTHERS I'M SURE THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE.

THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE IS NOT FULLY CLOSING AT THE END OF REFUELING. THIS ALLOWS SOME FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER NECK. CONSEQUENCESFUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE. WHEN REFUELING AT A GAS STATION
I CAN NOT PUT GAS IN THE TANK. THE FUEL NECK WAS REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. VERY LITTLE GAS GOES IN WHEN YOU ENGAGE THE FUEL PUMP AT THE GAS STATION MAYBE 10 OR 12 OUNCES THE THE PUMP CLICKS OFF AND STOPS FILLING. I TRY IT AGAIN THEN SLOWLY PUT GAS IN AND THE FILL NECK GETS FULL BECAUSE THE TANK WILL NOT LET THE GAS IN AND IT SPITS OUT THE FILL OPENING AND ON THE CAR AND GROUND. I WAS AT COSTCO AND THE ATTENDANT SAW MY PROBLEM AND SAID I HAD TO LEAVE UNTIL I GET THE ISSUE FIXED. I WAS ENDANGERING OTHERS. THIS INCIDENT HAS OCCURED TWICE ON ME SINCE PURCHASE OF A USED 2006 DURANGO. ON 11/20/16 I STOP AT GAS STATION TO FILL THE DURANGO UP WITH GAS. I PLACE THE NOZZEL INTO GAS TANK SELECT MY GRADE OF GAS & PUT NOZZLE INTO AUTO FILL. UPON TANK BECOMING FULL OF GAS THE GAS NOZZEL SHUT OFF & AFTERWARDS GAS BEGAN TO SPEWED OUT OF TANK, SOMETIME WITH HIGH PRESSURE & SOMETIMES IN LOW PRESSURE SPRAY. GAS CONTINUED TO FLOW OUT OF TANK FOR ABOUT 6 SECONDS ONTO THE GROUND. VEHICAL WAS STATIONARY AT THE FUEL PUMP.

THE FUEL TANK CHECK VALVE HAS COMPLETELY FAILED JUST LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHER DURANGOS. THERE IS SIGNIFICANT (12-16 OUNCES) GAS BLOWBACK WHEN THE FUEL REACHES A NEAR FULL LEVEL DURING REFUELING. I HAVE TRIED STOPPING THE PUMP SEVERAL TIMES TO ALLOW THE FUEL TO SETTLE, DIFFERENT BRANDS OF GAS AND DIFFERENT FILLER HANDLE POSITIONS. THE ONLY THING THAT CAN PREVENT THIS IS NOT FILLING THE TANK MORE THAN 3/4 FULL.

THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY THEN BOOM. 1/2 TO 1 GALLONS OF GASOLINE IS ON THE GROUND, SIDE OF VEHICLE AND MYSELF. WE CAN ONLY PUT PARTIAL TANKS OF GAS IN AT A TIME. AS WITH ALL REFUELING TRIPS THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, ENGINE OFF, SITTING BESIDE THE PUMP. THE 2005 DURANGOS WERE RECALLED. WHY NOT THIS YEAR ALSO. APPROXIMATELY 1/3 TO 1/2 GALLON OF FUEL WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE TANK. THIS STARTED AFTER I HAD ABOUT 75000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT WILL HAPPEN EVERY TIME I FILL THE CAR UP. AS A RESULT I CAN ONLY FILL THE TANK ABOUT 3/4 FULL. THE FUEL HAS DESTROYED THE PAINT ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE 20 MILES HOME SOAKED IN GASOLINE AFTER THIS HAS HAPPENED. DODGE SAYS THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS LISTED AS "RESTRICTED" IN THEIR DATA BASE THEY CANT TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT RESTRICTED MEANS ONLY THAT IT MAY HAVE BEEN CLASSIFIED AS A TOTAL LOSS AT SOME POINT. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED BUT HAD NO ISSUES REGISTERING IT OR INSURING IT IN NJ. DODGE SAYS THERE IS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THIS PROBLEM BUT BECAUSE IT IS NOT A RECALL THEY REFUSE TO MAKE THE REPAIR FOR ME BECAUSE OF MY VEHICLES "RESTRICTED" STATUS SO I GUESS IF I AM REFUELING AND GAS SPILLS OUT AND CATCHES THE PLACE ON FIRE DODGE WONT CARE I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT JUST A WARRANTY ISSUE THERE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL EJECTED OUT OF THE TANK. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
AS I BRAKED TO PARK THE DURANGO, THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY STALLED. NOT SURE WHY IT STALLED, BUT I KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2004-2005 DURANGOS WHERE THE ENGINE WOULD STALL DURING SHARP TURNS WHILE BRAKING.
