MY DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES INSIDE ALL FLICKER OFF AND ON AND DROP TO ZERO. THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT LOOSES POWER, IT'S VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE A FIX. FOR IT, NOT A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. MY OUT SIDE LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF AS WELL, BUT I REPLACED MY LIGHT SWITCH AND IT FEELS LIKE THIS IS JUST A TEMPORARY FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
SEVERAL TIMES WHILE IN MOTION, THE DASH LIGHTS BLINK AND POWER IS LOST. SOMETIMES IT WILL CONTINUE TO RUN AND SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT MOVE. ON OTHER DAYS IT RUNS JUST FINE. THERE ARE NO CODES THAT FLASH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON EXCEPT FOR WHEN THE DASH LIGHTS ARE FLASHING. A SIMPLE SEARCH WILL VERIFY WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ALOT. IT IS NOT THE FUEL TANK PROBLEM. IT HAPPENS WHILE STILL AND HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION. A WHILE BACK I WAS TRYING TO CROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION AND IT HAPPEDEN AT THAT POINT. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE SINCE ABOUT 50,000 MILES AND WE ARE AT 80,000 NOW.. IT STAYS PARKED ALOT FOR BEING 10 YRS OLD.
I HAVE COMPLAINED ON THIS VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES NOW. IT CONTINUES TO HAVE A RANDOMLY STALLING ENGINE WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IT IS NOT THE GAS TANK. IT HAS FINALLY STARTED CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON (YAY! IT MIGHT ACTUALLY GET FIXED). JUST KIDDING! THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE CODES THAT SHOW UP ARE GENERAL PCM CODES THAT MEAN NOTHING. FROM ONLINE RESEARCH, IT APPEARS IT MAY BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE PCM, ECM, OR NUMEROUS OTHER PARTS. EITHER WAY, MOST OF US GO WITHOUT CARS FOR WEEKS WHILE MECHANICS CANNOT FIND THE ACTUAL CAUSE THUS CANNOT FIX A DANGEROUS VEHICLE. MOST OF US DON'T WANT TO DRIVE VEHICLES THAT STALL WHILE GOING 40 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000.
WHILE DRIVING, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHT UP SIMULTANEOUSLY AND THEN GO DARK (ALL OF THEM). AT THE SAME TIME, ALL THE GAUGES DROP TO ZERO, BOUNCE TO THEIR MAX AND THEN DROP TO A NULL STATE AGAIN. AFTER THIS BLINKING EVENT HAPPENS A FEW TIMES, ALL OF THE MONITORING SYSTEMS AND GAUGES RETURN TO A WORKING STATE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT DOES NOT SEEM TO AFFECT THE DRIVEABILITY OF THE CAR (BRAKES, TRANS, ETC. ALL STILL FUNCTION). THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, IT CAUSED GREAT CONCERN FOR SAFETY, AS WELL AS SIGNIFICANT DISTRACTION WHILE UNDER WAY. THE ORIGINAL DATE AND MILEAGE ARE ESTIMATED.
I GOT MY FUEL TANK REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY (NEW FUEL TANK & O-RING PART #S: CNSTX531AA AND CNSTX532AA) AND NOW STALLING IS WORSE THAN BEFORE. ENGINE WANTS TO STALL ANYWHERE FROM 0-30 MPH NOW WHETHER THE TANK IS FULL, HALF EMPTY OR NEAR EMPTY. THE CAR'S STALLING CAN BE PREVENTED BY PROVIDING QUICK ACCELERATION, WHICH WILL TEMPORARY FIX THE ISSUE, ONLY TO HAVE IT COME BACK LATER. THE CHOICE BETWEEN STALLING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND LOSING POWER STEERING & OTHER NECESSITIES, OR QUICKLY ACCELERATING TO PREVENT A STALL, LEAVE DRIVERS WITH TWO UNSAFE, DANGEROUS CHOICES EACH. THE FUEL TANK RECALL DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. IF ANYTHING, IT MADE IT WORSE, MORE DANGEROUS, AND MADE A MINOR DEFECT/ANNOYANCE INTO A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT CAN NOT BE "BURNT OFF" LIKE THE EXCESS GAS IN THE PREVIOUS FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. MA 10/1 THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY STALL; THE RPM WENT TO ZERO WITH NO POWER AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. MY CAR IS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. I HAVE CHECKED NUMEROUS FORUMS AND MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS COULD RESULT IN A FATALITY. I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO START THE CARE AGAIN UNTIL I GOT IT BACK IN PARK. IT HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES NOW.
WHILE DRIVING FROM POINT A TO POINT B APPROXIMATELY 17 MILES, THIS VEHICLE STALLED 7 TIMES. MOSTLY STALLING WHILE AT A LIGHT IT HAS INCREASED TO WHILE DRIVING AS WELL. ONE TIME SPECIFIC IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION CAUSING A BACK UP IN TRAFFIC AND NEAR ACCIDENT. WHILE UNDERSTANDING THIS ISSUE HAS MAINLY BEEN INVESTIGATED AND REPORTED AFTER FILL UP, THIS INSTANCE IS NOT. THIS IS A DAILY ISSUE THAT DEMANDS ATTENTION. MECHANICAL TECHS CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH THIS APPARENTLY HAS HAPPEN ENOUGH WITHOUT RESOLUTION BUT HOW MANY CLOSE CALLS ARE GOING TO TURN TO FATALITIES BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? THIS PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGE. AT FIRST IT WAS ONCE EVER 3 MONTHS NOW IT HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. ON 1/14/2014 AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK THE CAR STALLED NEARLY BEING REAR ENDED ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THIS PROBLEM GETTING WORSE AND WORSE EVERYTIME. WHILE DRIVING 55 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH DASH LIGHTS FLICKERING AND THE CAR STOPPING. DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM BUT THE CAR WILL ALSO SURGE FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED LIKE I HAVE STEPPED ON THE GAS BUT MY FOOT WOULD BE ON THE BRAKE. 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T DAYTONA. I NOTICED A LURCH IN THE VEHICLE YESTERDAY AS I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AS WELL AS THE SPEAKERS TURNING OFF/ON. THIS MORNING AS THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE DASHBOARD TURNED OFF, VEHICLE CHIMED AND ALL GAUGES WENT TO ZERO, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING AND WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT DISPLAYING ANY INDICATION ON GAUGES. AFTER ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS, GAUGES RETURNED TO NORMAL AS IF THE VEHICLE HAD RESTARTED. HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN 20 MIN WHILE VEHICLE WAS IDLING IN TRAFFIC. NEVER DID IT SEEM THAT THE ENGINE HAD SHUT DOWN. *TR
ALL OF THE LIGHTS LIGHT UP AND THE NEEDLES MOVE UP/DOWN ON THE DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY FOR LIKE 3-4 SECONDS AND NORMALLY DOES THIS TWICE CONSECUTIVELY AND THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY. *TR
VEHICLE JERKS WHILE DRIVING AS IF SOMETHING IS STARTING TO DIE OR GO OUT, THEN STARTS RUNNING AGAIN. ONLY APPEARS TO HAPPEN AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK TO COMPLETELY FULL. VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WITHIN SEVERAL FEET AFTER FUELING UP, THEN RESTART AND YOU'RE GOOD TO GO. YOU DRIVE MAYBE AN EIGHTH OF A MILE AND AS YOU SLOW TO A STOP, THE CAR WILL STALL OUT AND DIE AGAIN. USUALLY FINE FOR THE REST OF THE EVENING. VEHICLE EVENTUALLY SHUTS OFF WHEN I COME TO A NEAR STOP OR AM STOPPED. OIL LAMP LIGHT TURNS ON WHEN THE CAR DIES. TRIED RESTARTING TWICE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, THEN WAITED A FEW MINUTES. TRIED TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN AND WAS SUCCESSFUL. IT SEEMS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE LIKE THIS, BUT IT SEEMS I HAVE TO DRIVE LONG ENOUGH TO BURN OFF SOME GAS...
MY CAR WAS USING WAY TOO MUCH GAS COMPARED TO WHAT IT USED TO AND WAS RUNNING POORLY SO I TOOK IT IN FOR A TUNE UP. THE FILTERS, PLUGS, FLUIDS, ETC. WERE DONE. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THE TUNE UP I BEGAN TO HAVE TROUBLE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SHOP THAT HAD DONE THE TUNE UP BUT AFTER READING HUNDREDS OF LETTERS FROM OTHER PEOPLE, I KNOW NOW THAT IT IS THE CAR. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS: WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT STOP SIGN, MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND DIED WITHIN TWO BLOCKS OF THE STOP SIGN. THE CAR STARTED UP AND SEEMED FINE. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AND A HALF LATER, AGAIN, I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR STALLED ABOUT 4 BLOCKS FROM THE STOP SIGN. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL SEPTEMBER15, 2014, WHEN THE CAR DIED...
SINCE 4-7-14 THRU 7-16-14 THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED TWO FUEL TANKS ( ACCORDING TO EXTENDED LIFETIME COVERAGE LETTER DATED MAY 8,2014), O2 SENSOR, TRANSMISSION MODULE,SPARK PLUGS, IGNITION COILS AND DISCONNECTED THE REMOTE STARTER. THE CAR CONTINUES TO STALL AND SHUTOFF. *TR
CAR DIED IN INTERSECTION. HAPPENED TWICE. IT STALLS, CHOKES AND DIES THEN HAS PROBLEMS RESTARTING TAKES ABOUT 3-4 TRIES THEN RESTARTS. VERY DANGEROUS AND ACCIDENT CAUSING. *TR
I LEARNED ABOUT THE FUEL TANK WARRANTY AND WILL BE GETTING THAT REPAIRED, BUT MY ISSUE IS AT 75 TO 100% THROTTLE MY CAR WILL STALL OUT. BUT MY CAR STARTS BACK UP ON ITS OWN LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. 2006 DODGE CHARGER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD A TRANSMISSION LEAK, AND IT SHUDDERED, THE SUN ROOF RATTLED AND THE SIDE TRIM FELL OFF. A FORMER TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE CONDENSATION DRAIN FOR THE AIR CONDITION DRIPPED ONTO THE TRANSMISSION AND POOLED AROUND THE TRANSMISSION FILLER TUBE. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A 140,000 MILES, IT BEGAN EMITTING WHITE SMOKE, TO THE POINT WHERE THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF HIS REAR VIEW MIRROR. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE VALVE SEAT OF THE #3 CYLINDER HAD DROPPED OUT, SMASHING TWO LARGE HOLES ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE PISTON, THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. THERE WAS ALSO A HAIRLINE CRACK ACROSS THE APEX OF THE PISTON HOLE-TO-HOLE, THE DEBRIS HAD PUMMELED THE CYLINDER HEAD. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN FLAWLESS SINCE PURCHASED NEW IN 2006. IN NOV. 2013 IT STALLED WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND WAS FINE FOR 5 MILES THEN STALLED AGAIN. EVER SINCE THEN THE PROBLEM HAS INCREASED IN FREQUENCY AND ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE VEHICLE STALLING WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS OR MERGING ONTO HIGHWAYS. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THIS CAR IN MONTHS DUE TO THIS AS IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ME OR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. I HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO $2,000.00 IN MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX THIS VEHICLE FOLLOWING REPAIR MANUAL PROCEDURES VIA THE DEALER. I HAVE HAD THE PCM, REPLACED TWICE (FIRST ONE WAS DEFECTIVE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX), TCM REPLACED, BATTERY REPLACED, THROTTLE BODY REPLACED, MAP SENSOR REPLACED, ASD RELAY REPLACED AND SPARK PLUGS REPLACED WITH ZERO IMPROVEMENTS. I USED TO ENJOY THIS VEHICLE AND NOW IT IS A DEATH...
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WE SLOWED DOWN FOR TRAFFIC. WE WERE GOING ABOUT 25 MILES AN HOUR WHEN WE GOT HIT FROM BEHIND. THE CAR WAS GOING 40 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR. THE WHOLE DASH - STEREO AND ETC CAME APART BUT NEITHER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED?? CAR WILL STALL AT IDLE OR WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE CAR WILL CUT OFF BY IT SELF AND THEN RESTART. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON THE CAR JUST STALLED OUT FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS AND KICKED BACK ON. THIS HAS NOW BECOME MORE FREQUENT AND ALSO STALLS WHILE STOPPED NOW. I HAVE SPENT OVER 1300$ TROUBLE SHOOTING AND GOING BACK AND FORTH TO THE MECHANIC. ONLY TO START SEARCHING AND CAME ACROSS THIS INVESTIGATION. I JUST WANT THE CAR TO RUN CORRECTLY.
EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE GAS TANK IS FILLED, THE ENGINE STALLS SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING AWAY. IT REQUIRES SEVERAL CRANKS OF THE ENGINE TO GET STARTED AGAIN. AFTER THE ENGINE IS RESTARTED, DRIVING /IDLE IS ROUGH FOR SOME AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. HAD A TUNE UP DONE, FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SHOP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DISCERNING TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY DUE TO SAFETY. I JUST FINISHED REFUELING ALMOST TO FULL. VEHICLE STARTED PERFECTLY. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 BLOCKS AT 15 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND SHUT OFF. IT TOOK 3 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 4 MORE BLOCKS AT 15 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND SHUT OFF AGAIN. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP THAT I USE. THE MECHANIC AT THE SHOP DROVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF 2 TIMES WHILE THE MECHANIC DROVE IT. VEHICLE WAS SCANNED FOR CODES. NO CODES WERE DISPLAYED. THE MECHANIC CLEANED OUT THE THROTTLE BODY. VEHICLE HAS BEEN OPERATING PERFECT SINCE THAT TIME. ONE OTHER NOTE. ONE MONTH PRIOR, WITH 3/4 TANK OF FUEL, FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY DROPPED TO EMPTY AND CHIMING SOUND BEGAN RINGING FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS. VEHICLE DID NOT STALL OR SHUT OFF. FUEL GAUGE THEN SUDDENLY RETURNED TO 3/4 FULL AND CHIMING SOUND...
VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN TODAY (OCTOBER 19TH, 2013) WITH NO WARNING WHILE MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION. FILLED UP EARLIER TODAY WITH NO TOP OFF. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES PRIOR SINCE (MAY 2013). DEALER CAN NOT DIAGNOSE. NORMALLY HAPPENS AFTER FUEL FILL UP. AFTER COMPLAINING MULTIPLE TIMES TO THE DEALER, REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND PERFORMED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND RE FLASHED THE PCM AT MY EXPENSE, DESPITE HAVING WARRANTY COVERAGE THROUGH 2015 120K MILES BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM ON A 5 MINUTE TEST DRIVE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN TWO DAYS LATER. AFTER MORE VISITS NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN MET AND THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. *TR
THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING PROBLEM THAT WE'VE BEEN CHASING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THE CAR WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY WITHOUT WARNING SOMETIMES THE GAUGES WILL DROP AND THE WARNING "DING" WILL SOUND. MOST OF THE TIME THE CAR WILL RESTART, HOWEVER THERE HAS BEEN INSTANCES THAT IT HAS TO SIT FOR AWHILE BEFORE RESTARTING. IN ANY CASE, IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE IT WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING. I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS ON CITY STREETS. THERE ARE TIMES IN WHICH WE HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE GAUGES AND HEADLIGHTS TO TURN ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TAIL LIGHTS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK EITHER. AS I WAS DRIVING ACROSS THE DESERT ON I-10 IN ARIZONA, ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR LOST ALL ENGINE POWER.
