WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER, I DIDN'T HAVE TO FINISH DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM, SHE TOLD ME THAT THS GEAR SHIFTER HAD SEIZED AND WHAT THE PRICE WAS TO FIX IT. IT WAS OBVIOUSLY A COMMON PROBLEM. WHEN I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM, THERE WERE SO MANY HITS, I KNEW IT HAD TO BE A RECALL ITEM BUT IT IS NOT. ALSO, THE TOW SERVICE SAID HE WAS CERTAIN THERE WAS A RECALL BASED ON THE NUMBER OF CHARGERS HE PICKS UP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM ENTERING AN EXPRESS-WAY FOR EXAMPLE OR PASSING ANOTHER CAR, AND CONSEQUENTLY HAVING TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY, BUT THEN IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, SAY, TO SLOW DOWN OR STEP ON THE BREAKS, THE CAR WILL STALL, AND THIS IS EVERY TIME. I AM NOT TALKING HERE OF A SUITUATION OF "RED-LINING", JUST EVERY-DAY NORMAL DRIVING. IF I AM ACCELERATING, SAY IN THE 3000 RPM RANGE, AND THEN TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS FOR WHATEVER REASON, THE CAR WILL JERK AND BASICALLY THE TRANSMISSION WILL DISENGAGE FROM THE ENGINE SPEED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I GET NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR. THE ENGINE WILL STILL BE RUNNING AND EVERY THING ELSE WILL BE OK, EXCEPT ACCELERATING. VEHICLE ALSO HAS A NOTICEABLE 'KICK' OR 'JARRING' WHEN DRIVING- EVEN AT 5-10MPH IN PARKING LOT WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS NOT EVEN PRESSED. I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR ESPECIALLY W/MY CHILD. I HAVE A 2006 CHARGER R/T WITH APPROX 80K MILES. I WENT INTO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY SAID MY TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. I ASKED IF IT WAS SERIOUS AND THE ADVISOR TOLD ME IT HAPPENS "ALL THE TIME" ON CHARGERS LIKE MINE. WHAT MAKES IT WORSE IS THAT THERE IS NO DIPSTICK TO MONITOR YOUR TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY STATE HIGHWAY PATROL CAR. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON IT AND STATED THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. 2 OF MY OTHER PARTNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME DEALERSHIP. WELL YESTERDAY EVENING. I WAS MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND THE CAR WAS JUST REVVING WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. IF THERE WERE ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC I COULD OFF GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT. I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR HARD, DEFINITELY DON'T RACE. WHY WOULD SOMETHING HAPPEN LIKE THIS? IT IS PRETTY MUCH A BRAND NEW CAR WHICH I KEEP UP THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. IS THERE GOING TO BE A RECALL ON THIS EQUIPMENT BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I'VE READ A FEW DIFFERENT FORUMS ON THIS VEHICLE AND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR OR HESITATING TO GO INTO GEAR. I AM ABOUT TO FILE A LEMON LAW COMPLAINT BECAUSE DODGE HAS BEEN "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" THE MOST SERIOUS PROBLEMS THAT HAVE PLAGUED MY VEHICLE, A 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T, SINCE DAY FOUR OF MY OWNERSHIP. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 68 DAYS AND OF THOSE, I HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE FUNCTIONING CAR FOR 19 DAYS. THEY HAVE FIXED A NUMBER OF MINOR ISSUES AND NOTIFIED ME THAT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO FIX OR DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX AT THIS TIME, SOME MINOR ISSUES INCLUDING THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR PROBLEMS (WHICH THEY SAY THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE". THE SERIOUS ISSUES THAT ARE OCCURRING WHEN IT IDLES, WHEN IT ACCELERATES AND WITH WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE SUSPENSION AND POSSIBLY BOTH THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION.
