On December 15, 2025, while driving my 2008 Chrysler Sebring in Indianapolis, Indiana, I noticed smoke coming from the driver’s side near the battery. Shortly afterward, the car completely stopped responding — the brakes and steering were unresponsive — and the vehicle caught fire in that area. I exited the car safely, and the fire department responded and extinguished the fire. The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but I suspect a battery or electrical component failure. No warning lights appeared prior to the incident, except for the smoke I noticed. The incident has not yet been inspected by a dealer, manufacturer, or insurance representative. If inspection is needed, the affected parts can be examined in the tow lot, but much of the vehicle has been destroyed, and there is very little left of the car due to the fire. The car loss compression in the middle of driving. Try to crank it but it drains the battery. Also, I bought the car a year the buy here pay here company ripped out the lemon law page for Tennessee but kept the other pages in.
Engine frequently stalls while driving. I've had my car shut off while I'm driving many times, the steering wheel and brakes lock up and it makes it hard to get off the street to safety. This happens a LOT. It is very dangerous and scary. I get anxiety everytime I drive because I'm scared of it happening again. My car once turned off in the middle of a busy intersection while trying to turn. It came on after about 45 seconds but it was terrifying. Battery often dies (just replaced it). Horn would go off randomly without stopping for a long time. I had to disconnect the horn (on both sides) because it would keep randomly going off with no way to stop it. Cruise control stopped working one day. Sometimes it comes up when I press cruise control but it turns off when I try setting a speed. Drivers...
I was on my way to work. All the warning light appeared on my dash. Then all the warning light, radio, speedometer gage and all head light and tail lights went out. I was driving in the dark. My engine bogged down no power. I was barley moving. I replaced the battery no difference. I replaced the alternator worked for 3 minutes and then the car was back to the same as before. I contacted a nearby mechanic facility they told me that it was most definitely the fuse panel under the hood. That's its not a recall but a lawsuit replacement. I notified the manufacturer and they told me my Vin number was not under recall. I'm confused on what to do not. I'm in no way able to purchase a new vehicle at this time. Nor spend hundreds or thousands in repairs. Please help.
purchased may 15th.and now car sits in my apartment parking lot as a roadblock for all tenants since May 27th. 2008sebring started fine.drove 2 miles roundtrip, vehicle ride was rough upon turning into residence thankfully I was not on the street in traffic when the car decided to stop ,the windows were down I still have not been able to get them rolled up .lights instrument panel lights went haywire flashing,ding chime sound continuous. the backdash illuminate light has never worked. wont accept jump from cables,has power in areas under hood, charged to 12v on charger able to get code (DTC-U1403 implausible fuel level signal. In February 2021 my car wouldn’t stop, tried to give it a jump and it still wouldn’t start. Replaced the battery and it started working again. In April 2021 my engine light came on. I got a diagnostic and the error code read: P2016 Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor/Switch Circuit Low Bank 1. I didn’t get it fixed. Shortly after, I began hearing a faint crackling noise and noticed when I would drive on turn pikes my a red brake symbol would briefly pop up on my dash board and then go away. In May 2021 my horn stopped working and front right turn signal light stopped working. I tried to get a new one installed it wouldn’t work. I was told it could be an electrical issue. My TPS light has been on for quite some time and after a short time since the first time it appeared my issue worsens everyday. My car STALLS, not only when I am stopped at a light, but even when I am driving at high speeds and the Check Engine light stays on all the time and blinks and dings at times and now the airbag light is on as well and blinks and dings all the time while the car is started. I took the car to get check for error codes, but none come up when the diagnostics is ran.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V152000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 174,000.
MY WIN MODULE IS NO GOOD OR MY CARS COMPUTER. WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR SHUTS OFF.
THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF WOULD OPEN WITH PAUSING. THE TRUNK WAS STUCK OPEN NOT CLOSING BUT YOU COULD HEAR MOTOR. NOW TRUNK CLOSED AND STAY CLOSED WITH NO MOTOR SOUND. CONVERTIBLE TOP ISN'T OPENING BUT WHEN CAR DRIVES AT 30MPH THE ROOF FLIES OPEN. THE DASHBOARD LIGHT WOULD GO OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING,CAUSING UNABLE TO SEE MPH OR ANYTHING. I CAN NOT DRIVE DUE TO FEAR OF BEING IN A ACCIDENT OR CAUSING ONE SINCE THE CAR IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE ROOF WILL FALL OFF ON ROUTINE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH SPEED LIMITS THE CAR CAN'T EXCEED.

MY 2008 CHRYSLER SEBRING HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE NOVEMBER 9, 2019. DEFECTIVE TIPM. THE STARTER HAS CAUGHT FIRE 3 TIMES. VEHICLE STALLS OUT AND LEAVES YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED. IGNITION SWITCH IS GETTING HOT WHEN KEYS ARE IN AND THE KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION. TIPM WAS REPLACED. CAR IS STILL NOT RUNNING DUE TO DEALERSHIP NOT KNOWING WHAT NEW PARTS TO TRY. HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH COOLING SYSTEMS/FAN NOT WORKING PROPERLY.

3 SEPERATE BUT RELATED EVENTS. MY HORN BEGAN HONKING AT RANDOM TIMES, EVENTUALLY I COULD NOT TURN IT OFF WHILE IN MY PARKING GARAGE AT WORK. ENDED UP REMOVING BATTERY CONNECTION TO STOP THE HONKING. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I DISCONNECTED THE HORNS. MY WIPERS RANDOMLY DO NOT WORK. I'VE HAD TO RELY ON RAINX. SOMETIMES THEY WORK AND OTHER TIMES I CANT TURN THEM OFF. THE BATTERY IS IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL WELL AND THE TIRE MUST BE TAKEN OFF TO GET TO THE BATTERY. CANNOT EVEN GET A JUMP TO GET THE CAR STARTED. HAVE TO HAVE A TOW. BATTERY RAN DOWN ALTERNATOR. NOW HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V152000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); ALTHOUGH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE. SEATBELT LIGHT ON DASH KEEPS CHIMING AS IF I DON'T HAVE MY SEAT BELT ON. THIS CHIMES AND LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY WHILE IN MOTION. OR PARKED.

I DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE DAILY FOR WORK AND BOTH OF THESE ARE A HUGE HAZARD FOR ME AND OTHER DRIVERS. I ASSUME THE PROBLEMS ARE RELATED BEING AS THEY BOTH WENT CRAZY AT THE SAME TIME. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED LAST NOVEMBER FROM A PRIVATE SELLER. MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAS FALLEN INTO THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES DO TO A FAULTY TRACK. MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING DO TO A FAULTY BUTTON. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO MY TPMS SENSOR ON MY DRIVER SIDE STOP WORKING, NOT EVEN A MONTH LATER MY CAR STARTED STALLING. I WOULD BE AT A LIGHT, STOP SIGN, OR PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND IT WOULD JUST STALL. SO I HAD THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED AT NOT EVEN 70,000 MILES WHICH SOLVED THE STALLING ISSUE. THEN ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO I NOTICED WHEN I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING TO TAMPA FROM ORLANDO AND I PUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AND MY CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN ON I4 AND ALMOST GOT ME HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK BUT HE WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO SWERVE INTO THE LANE BESIDE ME. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND TOLD THEM THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID WELL THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TPMS BUT YOUR VIN NUMBER DOESN'T MATCH AND TURNED ME AWAY. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER I STARTED HAVING...
HORN AND PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM WENT OUT ON MY 4-CYL. 2.4L 2008 CHRYSLER SEBRING SEDAN ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I REPLACED THE BULB, WHICH IS LABOR INTENSIVE ON THIS CAR IN ITSELF AND THE LOW BEAM STILL DID NOT WORK. I TESTED THE NEW BULB AND IT WORKED FINE. I MOVED THE BULB TO THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP AND IT WORKED FINE. THE HARNESS FOR THE BULB CONNECTOR CARRIES A 12V CURRENT BUT STILL THE LOW BEAM DOES NOT WORK. EVERY ONLINE SEARCH POINTS TO A FAULTY TIPM(TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE). I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW ONE AT $595 AND THAT'S IF I REPLACE IT MYSELF. I'M UNABLE TO FIND A COMPATIBLE USED PART AT SALVAGE YARDS IN THE AREA AND CHRYSLER DEALER SAYS THERE IS CURRENTLY A MONTH LONG NATIONAL BACKORDER ON THE PART AND IS UNSURE IF I'LL HAVE A REPLACEMENT IN A MONTH. I WAS DRIVING AND MY VEHICLE STARTED OVER HEATING AND THEN WOULDN'T RUN. I HAVE PUT W GONE COOLANT IN IT SEVERAL TIME. THE RADIATOR HOSE TOP PART IS COMPLETELY BUSTED. PASSENGER WINDOW EXPLODED IN THE DOOR WHILE TOUCHING CONTROL BUTTON FOR WINDOW TO OPEN TO ASK DIRECTIONS. HAD TO TRAVEL BY MYSELF TO MEXICO 300 MILES AWAY AND HAD TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY BACK TO LAS VEGAS WITH NO WINDOW. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DID THE SAME EXACT THING LAST SUMMER IN 2015. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER SEBRING. WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED SIDESWIPED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE TO SPIN AROUND IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, FACING TWO SEMI-TRUCKS. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE GEARS WERE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REVERSED DOWN A RAVINE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, BACK, AND KNEE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN THREE TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE DASH LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. AN EASY SEARCH ON GOOGLE SHOWS THIS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW WITH THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS AFFECTED. THIS SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL TO REPLACE THE 12 VOLT INVERTER WHICH IS FLAWED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,500.
THIS CAR HAS A FAULTY TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THIS CAUSED SEVERAL PROBLEMS INCLUDING: THE CAR STALLING SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 50 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, THE HORN GOING OFF INTERMITTENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY BOTH WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHILE IT WAS MOVING, AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WOULD NOT CLEAR. I REPLACED THE FAULTY TIPM AT MY OWN EXPENSE AND IT RESOLVED ALL THESE PROBLEMS. CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED RECALLS FOR TIPMS, BUT THEY HAVE NEVER RECALLED THE 2008 SEBRING. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL, FAULTY TIPM OUT OF THE CHRYSLER THAT I CAN SEND FOR TESTING AND VERIFICATION.
MY FATHER OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER SEBRING LIMITED. AROUND THE YEAR 2014 AND 70,000 MILES, THE CAR STARTED TO ACT LIKE IT WAS POSSESSED. RADIO, HAZARD LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON ALL BY THEMSELVES. MY FATHER TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE RADIO STAYED AWAKE WHILE THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THAT THIS WAS CAUSING A DRAW ON THE BATTERY. THEY TOLD HIM HE COULD REPLACE THE RADIO FOR $900 OR JUST PULL THE FUSE. THIS WOULD CURE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE BATTERY WAS TRASH AND IT COST HIM OVER $300 TO REPLACE. THE KNEW BATTERY DIDN'T LAST A YEAR. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY B/C IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, NOW THEY SAID, THAT AFTER THE TEST PERFORMED A DRAW TEST, THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT DRAW OF 1 AMP OR MORE AT TIMES. THEY COULDN'T ISOLATE THE CIRCUIT AND THAT IT SEEMED TO...

AFTER A FEW DAYS OF THE WINDOWS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY AND THE CAR HESITATING AT TIMES DURING ACCELERATION, IT WOULD NOT START AFTER BEING PARKED FOR AN HOUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE TIPM WAS NOT WORKING AND THAT IT HAD BEEN SUPPLYING CONTINUOUS POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP AND THE WIRES WERE BURNED! THIS CERTAINLY SOUNDS LIKE A FIRE HAZARD. THIS REPAIR COST OVER $1000 WITH $677.50 BEING FOR PARTS. I SEE THAT JEEPS HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND THERE ARE OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TIPM FOR VEHICLES. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL ITEM?

I FIRST NOTICED THE LIGHT IN THE ANALOG CLICK GO OUT, THEN THE LIGHT IN THE SHIFTER AND OVERHEAD LAMP. MOST IMPORTANTLY IS MY POWER LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. I PURCHASED A 5 BATTERIES FOR MY REMOTE KEY AND WHEN THAT DIDN'T WORK I PURCHASED A NEW SET OF KEYS. THE HORN AND LIGHTS WOULD SOUND BUT THE LOCKS WOULD NOT LOCK. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK MY DOORS AND I'M UNABLE TO ACCESS MY TRUNK UNLESS I CRAWL IN FROM THE BACK SEAT AND HIT THE RELEASE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE LOOK OVER MY CAR AND I NO ONE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT.
