A KNOCKING NOISE STARTED COMING FROM THE FRONT OF VEHICLE AND STARTED VIBRATING UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE THEN VEHICLE STALLED. THE DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART IT, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO SLUDGE BUILD UP. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB *TR
WE FIRST SAW A DEALERSHIP REGARDING A CLICKING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON APRIL 26, 2004, THEN AGAIN ON JULY 16, 2004 AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. ON THE LATTER DATE, THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE OIL CHANGED. ON 7/25, THE ENGINE. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I HAD JUST PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. WE REPLACED THE ENGINE EARLY IN 2005. WHEN THE TECH BROKE DOWN THE OLD 2.7 LITER ENGINE, HE WROTE, "...ROD BEARINGS WORN AND ROD TAP NOISE THE ENGINE SHOWED NO SIGNS OF ABUSE OR ALTERATION...". THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT ENGINE. AT THIS TIME, WE ARE PREPARING TO REQUEST COMPENSATION FROM DAIMLER-CHRYSLER. *JB
THE CAR WAS IDLING FOR ABOUT 20MINUTES, THEN IT STARTED TO IDLE UP QUITE HIGH THEN BOG DOWN LOW, AFTER THAT I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, WAITED FOR MY HUSBAND. GOT THE CAR TO HIS FATHERS HOUSE, BARELY, THEN TOOK IT TO WHERE WE BOUGHT IT FROM. THEN IT DIED AND WON'T START BACK UP. THE CAR ONLY HAS 105,000 MILES ON IT. ENGINE IS COMPLETLY GONE.
THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF. THEN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP. FOLLOWING THAT A LOUD CLANKING NOISE WAS HEARD, AND VEHICLE STALLED. DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. DRIVER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE CONSUMER COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THEN AFTER TRYING TO COAST HOME, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT ENGINE WAS FULL OF SLUDGE, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WARRANTY COMPANY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A LACK OF MAINTENANCE, AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST.*AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE STALLED, WOULD NOT RESTART, AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE ENGINE WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE.*AK THE TENSIONER WENT BAD IN THE ENGINE ALLOWING THE TIMING CHAIN TO JUMP TIME, RESULTING IN THE VALVES BEING BENT INTO THE HEAD AND DESTROYING THE ENGINE. *BF *NM
THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. A LOUD TICKING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SLUDGE BUILD UP. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB

THE VEHICLE STALLED AT EVERY LIGHT, FINALLY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO GAIN SPEED. THE DEALER STATED THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE. *JB
ENGINE FAILED WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER, WHO CLAIMED THAT THE CONSUMER DID NOT MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE AND THE OIL HAD BUILT UP. THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE AND THE MOTOR WAS SHOT. WHILE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING VEHICLE KNOCKED, AND BEFORE HE COULD EXIT THE KNOCKING GOT REAL LOUD. AFTERWARDS, VEHICLE DIED. CONSUMER SAID HE HAD TO PUSH VEHICLE TO HIS HOME, BUT LATER HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER, WHO EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, AND TOLD CONSUMER THAT THE MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE, AND IT WOULD COST HIM $7500.00 TO GET IT REPAIRED. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED CONSUMER PAID $600.00 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND 2 SENSORS TO BE REPLACED.*AK

THE ENGINE STOPS RUNNING LIKE IT IS OUT OF GAS. AFTER SAFELY STOPPING PULLING OVER ETC. I CAN RESTART THE CAR BUT THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR A YEAR 2000 AUTOMOBILE.
DRIVING OUR 2000 CHRYSLER CONCORDE ALONG ATLANTIC CITY EXPRESSWAY OIL LIGHT CAME ON, WE WENT TO PULL OFF ROAD IMMEDIATELY AND ENGINED DIED. WE HAD TO REPLACE ENGINE , MECHANIC INDICATED SLUDGE IN ENGINE AND ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINES.WE HAD NO WARNING OF THIS UNTIL OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINED DIED IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT CAME ON. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO GET THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE CONSUMER HEARD A SCREECHING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. WHILE THE NOISE WAS PRESENT VEHICLE REVVED SEVERELY. AFTER AWHILE THE NOISE SUBSIDED, AND THE RPMS WOULD LOWER SIGNIFICANTLY. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER CONSUMER STARTED THE VEHICLE AND HEARD A DISCOURAGING SOUND. ENGINE SOUNDED AS IF THERE WAS A HAND FULL OF TACKS BEING GROUNDED UP. DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, AND INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SNAPPED, AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER DIDN'T HAVE THE $5900. TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE SO THEY TRADED IT IN. *NM
I HAD OWNED MY 2000 CHRYSLER CONCORDE FOR APPROXIMATLY THREE YEARS WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED. THERE WAS LITTLE IF ANY WARNING OF THE FAILURE IN THE WAY OF DASHBOARD INDICATORS, ETC. WHEN DRIVING, THE ENGINE STALLED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE SERVICING MECHANIC ADVISED THAT A SLUDGE BUILD-UP IN THE OIL RESERVE HAD CAUSED A FAILURE OF THE ENGINE TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER I INVESTIGATED FURTHER, I'VE SEEN OTHER SUCH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2.7 LITER ENGINE THAT I HAD REPLACED. MANY OF THE COMPLAINTS POINT TO A TOO-NARROW OIL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM IN THE ENGINE, THAT LEADS TO PREMATURE FAILURE. I BELIEVE THE ENGINE IS OF FAULTY DESIGN, AND IS UNFIT FOR DISTRIBUTION.*AK
ENGINE FAILED ON MY WIFE'S 2000 CHRYSLER CONCORDE WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. MECHANIC SAYS ROD FAILURE. 2.7L ENGINE. 58000 MILES ON THE CAR. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE DRIVER LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY A TECHNICIAN AND STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. *JB

DRIVING AT 45 MPH WHEN ENGINE MADE LOUD NOISE AND VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED. THIS CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS IS 2000 CHRYSLER CONCORDE WITH SAME 2.7 LITER ENGINE PROBLEM AS THE REST WHERE THE REPAIR SHOP SAYS SLUDGE BUILD-UP CAUSE ENGINE TIMING CHAIN TO BREAK BUT CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AS PER CHRYSLER RECOMMENDATIONS. *LA
WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER RESTARTED VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A WORN OUT PART. *AK
AT 85,000 MILES MY ENGINE IN WHICH I HAVE DONE MY OIL CHANGES, HAD SLUDGE IN IT, NOW AFTER 90,000 THE ENGINE KNOCKS REAL BAD AND MUST BE REPLACED, THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT MY PERSONAL EXTENDED WARRENTY WILL NOT COVER IT BECAUSE OF THE CRAP IN THE ENGINE, WHICH THEY SAID I CAUSED IT BECAUSE I DID NOT DO MY OIL CHANGES AND I DID. *AK
2000 CHRYSLER CONCORDE WITH APPROX. 94K MILES IS HAVING WHAT THE CHRYSLER MECHANIC CALLS A "BLOW BY" AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THEY SAY WE NEED A NEW ENGINE COSTING APPROX. $8000!!! WE HAVEN'T EVEN MADE IT TO THE FIRST TUNE-UP! WE'VE MAINTAINED THE CAR WITH OIL CHANGES EVERY 3K MILES AT THE DEALERSHIP. WE ALWAYS ASKED THEM TO INFORM US OF ANY IMPENDING CAR PROBLEMS SINCE WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY A LOT. NO SUGGESTION OF A HEAVIER WEIGHT OIL OR ANYTHING! THIS APPEARS TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT IN THE 2.7 LTR ENGINE THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT AND SHOULD FIX! WE'RE ATTEMPTING TO NEGOTIATE WITH DEALERSHIP NOW. *JB

WHEN TOWED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC, FOUND THAT THE CAR HAD COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THIS ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH MY WIFE AND 6 MONTH OLD IN THE CAR. WHEN LEAVING THE GAS STATION, THE MOTOR ACCELERATED VERY HIGH . DRIVER HAD NOT TOUCHED THE GAS PEDAL. DRIVER LATER HEARD A CLUNK IN THE ENGINE THEN MOTOR STALLED AGAIN. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *PH
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OR WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, AND THEY INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
THE ENGINE ON MY 2000 CHRYSLER CONCORDE FAILED. I MADE IT TO A DEALER BEFORE THE CAR ACTUALLY QUIT. I HAVE ONLY 80,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I NEED A NEW ENGINE FOR $7,100. I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHRYSLER 2.7L ENGINE EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP WHO SOLD ME THIS CAR NEVER MENTIONED IT TO ME.

THE ENGINE DEVELOPED SERIOUS VARNISHING AT TOP OF ENGINE AFTER COOLANT WAS CHANGED AT 30,000 MILES. ENGINE TOTALLY FAILED AT 60,000 DUE TO VARNISH AND SLUDGE BUILD UP. THIS WELL MAINTAINED CHRYSLER 2.7 LITER V6 FAILED AT AN ALARMING RATE. THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 07-002-02 WAS ISSUED BY CHRYSLER REGARDING COOLANT SERVICING. THEY TELL ME COOLANT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH VARNISH AND SLUDGE AND THEY REFUSED ANY HELP OR ASSISTANCE. REPAIR IS ESTIMATED OVER $6,000. *JB
