SPARE TIRE HOIST BRACKET BROKE AND SPARE TIRE WAS SWINGING LOOSELY UNDER REAR OF TRUCK. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED SEVERAL STRESS CRACKS IN BRACKET SURROUNDING THE BOLT HOLE. IF TIRE BRACKET WOULD HAVE BROKE OFF TIRE WOULD DROP TO PAVEMENT AND BECOME A ROAD HAZARD. SOURCES AT DEALER INDICATED THEY HAD NO BULLETINS ON THIS ITEM BUT KNEW OF SOME PEOPLE WHO HAD LOST THEIR SPARE TIRES. I STILL HAVE THE PARTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH NITTO DUNE GRAPPLER TIRES, SIZE 315/70/R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE RIM OF THE TIRES. THE CONTACT HAD NOT STRUCK ANY MAJOR BUMPS OR POT HOLES THAT COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE TIRE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,344. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.
