The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became firm, making it difficult to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that the check engine, traction control, and Forward Collision Avoidance warning lights illuminated, with the "Service Power Steering, “Drive with Care", and "Service ESC" messages displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the power steering assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
My vehicle lost reverse. It can not reverse what so ever. I was in traffic when it happened thankfully someone where there willing to help. I was told I needed a valve body, after spending 3k plus I was then told the transmission has to be replaced. And its a common thing with these vehicle losing your ability to reverse while driving is very very dangerous.
I own a 2022 Chevy Silverado with a 6.2 liter engine. I had the original engine up until approx 80k in mileage when it failed, I was on a dark country road doing approximately 50mph and the propulsion system failed and the truck shut off, being a country road, I had minimum breaking and minimal steering. I had my [XXX] son in the car, we ended up in a culvert and I scraped either a large rock or a piece of concrete that sometimes line culverts, it did damage. At the time, until recently, I had no idea I should report this. I did know that GM had issued a recall and I believed the engineer would be covered, which it was. I never reported the damage to insurance as I didn't want my ins to go up anymore, so I have not fixed it yet. My [XXX] old was...
they did the pico test they said the engine was good they upgraded the oil months after that 3 time back to the dealer do to loss of Propulsion its in a GM dealer SHOP waiting for the new long block as of 02-16-2026
The raido screen glitches randomly and wont let you use it. The engine has a bad shudder while driving. When the engine shudders the RPMs go down. It has hard shift most of the time after sitting over night and starting driving in the morning. It has been doing these issues for at least 6 months.
Loud chatter/rattle noise under acceleration and idle loss of power with no engine lights on dash metallic shards in oil.
I had the GM 6.2L motor recall test, it passed. Catastrophic engine failure at 50mph roughly 6000-7000 miles later. Luckily I got off the road safely. Confirmed by GM dealer, new engine has been ordered. No warning lights.
The engine coolant control valve went out on my vehicle. It is an 2022 LM2 engine. I found that that part frequently goes bad prematurely on this model. I also determined that this should be covered under N252508341. I was told by GM customer support that based on my vin it is not covered and they would not give me any further information. This is outrageous as this is the same defective part covered on their extended warranty.
Brought my 2022 Chevy Silverado 6.2 L engine into dealership for Safety Recall N252494001 L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion. Engine passed this initial inspection, Oil, Oil Filter and Oil cap was changed and was sent on my way. February 4th, 2026, Engines lost propulsion while traveling at highway speed, (75mph) causing a serious safety concern with rush hour traffic. After pulling over to the side of the highway, I reset the truck by cycling the ignition and was able to start the truck. On February 5th, 2026, Engine lost propulsion again at neighborhood speed, (20) in a construction site. Truck was blocking traffic at this point. Engine was unable to be started, transmission was locked in Parked and unable to be shifted. Had to have truck "dragged" out of traffic. Dealership was notified that I had possible catastrophic engine failure. I was advised by dealership to have it towed, at...
I was driving on the highway and there was a sudden drop in power and hesitation in the engine. I slowed down too quickly on a busy highway and almost got rear ended. I took it to the shop and found out I had to replace the engine due to the cam and lifters were bad. It cost $12,000 to replace a four year engine with 148,000 miles. The time before that this happened, I had to replace the engine wiring harness
On 2/5/2026, the 6.2 liter L87 engine in my 2022 ZR2 Silverado locked up and is currently located at Edwards Chevrolet on highway 280 in Birmingham, AL. While on I-65 in Birmingham, AL. and prior to locking up, the engine power decreased, and RPM's increased, followed by a dash message that oil temperature is high; pull over and idle. After idling the engine the dash message disappeared and oil pressure was good. We drove approx. 1.5 miles to a parking lot where the engine seized or locked up. The truck was towed to the above referenced dealership. The dealership confirmed the engine was locked up the next day. During the Summer of 2025, the dealership inspected the engine and performed an oil consumption test after I reported the engine had burned two quarts of oil between oil changes. Their fix was to transition from 0W-20 to 0W-40 oil, which has...
on febuary,3,2026 i was traveling down a local highway at 50 mph when i felt a sudden power loss and heard a squeaking noise figuring something was wrong i pulled over at the next safest spot, while pulling into the spot the squeaking noise developed into a "rod knock" the sound a loud metal clattering noise that was consistent with the rpms. i immediately shut the vehicle off and called a local towing service who promptly dropped it at my local chevy dealership the night of febuary,3,2026. further contact was made with dealership the day of febuary,4,2026 regarding the issue , prior to this issue the truck had been in for the recall regarding the L87 6.2 liter engine and it had passed the inspection and was given the oil change and the new oil cap and owners manual.
Truck has been experiencing intermittent stalling since 1200 miles. Was reported to the dealer and manufacturer. At approximately 20,000 miles (Spring 2025) the truck stalled out at high speed on the highway at approximately 70 mph near Tennessee during a work trip. When stalled, truck lost its ability to steer and break causing the truck to drive off the road and only stopped due to the truck rolling to a stop off-road. Luckily nothing was seriously damaged and it was a rural area with minimal traffic and flat grass lands on the side of the highway.
My 2022 Silverado Pickup with 6.2 engine simply died as I was heading down the highway at 65mph. It was dark outside and I barely got it pulled over to side of road safely. Had to have it towed to Chevy dealer. They weren’t sure what problem was— starter and battery indicated ok. However we had them install new ones just in case. We’ve seen on our searches of the internet that this is not a new problem. Just today it died again on me as I was driving in town, but did start again. I travel quite a bit and am worried it will die on me again in this crazy cold weather! Chevy needs to acknowledge this issue with the 6.2 motor! I’ve already spent almost $1500 on this issue and don’t think it’s fixed,
As I was speeding from the fast lane to get across to the right lane off ramp when my vehicle suddenly shot off. I knew I couldn’t stop on the off ramp or on the bridge I was on. Luckily I had a green light at the top of the off ramp and coasted to an empty parking lot. Once I came to a complete stop I attempted to restart my truck but no luck. The truck would not even crank over. I tried multiple times and the dash would only go dark for a few seconds and I would try again to start and had no luck. Called AAA and they thought it was a battery so they put a jumper and same thing, no crank. Then they tried jumping it with jumper cables and still no crank at all. I had just installed a new battery no more...
My 2022 Silverado 1500 with the 6.2L V8 engine has had continuous problems since purchase. The original engine was replaced under warranty at approx. 24k miles and has now had the lifters and camshaft replaced, as well as the knock sensors. All of this had to be negotiated with GM and my poor service manager, despite numerous recalls and class action lawsuits with GM regarding these known issues. I would like to trade this truck off for something safe and reliable, however the used value is tanking as quickly as their new vehicles. Dealerships are offering over $11k off of new 2026 trucks, damaging the resale value of all 2021-2025 units. At this point I just want GM to purchase the vehicle back and let me find something safe for my family.
the first engine blew while pulling out of my street onto a 45 mph road in march of 2025. they did the useless recall on the new engine and said it was good. The replacement engine blew in the november of 2025 in the fast lane at 80 mph. no warning no check engine lights just shut off. The replacement engine started make noise like it was going to blow again in december 2025. I paid 65k to have 3 bad engines in one year. corporate gm was of no help
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle vibrated and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH. The contact was able to pull over into a rest area. The power tailgate and power windows failed to function as intended, and the vehicle failed to restart. The message low battery power was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact attempted to jumpstart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where metal shavings were found in the oil pan and oil filter, which caused the engine to fail. The contact was informed that there was a hole in the radiator. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and paid for the engine replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that...
My truck has the 6.2l engine that is in recall. I received my letter and took it in for inspection and oil change as recommended (Dec 15, 2025). Less than a month later (Jan 26, 2026) my engine started making loud noises. Got it to the dealership. The claim found metal in oil, spun rod bearings. They did replace engine under recall at no charge but then a week later my check engine light came on. Bad battery control module. not sure if this was due to engine swap, etc.
I took my truck in for the recall on the L87 6.2 engine PCOED test and they said it passed. They changed to the 0-40 oil. I noticed a significant fuel mileage drop from mid 20 to low 14 on long highway drives. I had an oil change done and drove 500 miles the next day and there was just a trace of oil on the dipstick. I called my chevy dealership and they said that is normal for oil consumption. I topped off the oil before heading back home and used 3/4 of a quart. I am watching my oil consumption and looking to do an oil consumption test done by the dealership. They did not recommend this test I researched it. I am concerned my engine will blow up.
My truck has the 6.2l engine, prior to me buying it in September 2025 with 27,000 miles it had its engine replaced due to the recall/engine failure, then after 6,000 miles on 12-30-25 the 2nd engine it has had failed and had to be replaced. This truck that only has 34,000 miles is now on its 3rd motor and leaves me worried to really travel with it due to wondering if I am going to be stranded again.
The engine started knocking. The Dealer confirmed the Thrust Bearing was the culprit. Engine replacement recommended. 41k. 6.2
On October 6th I took my truck in for the 6.2L recall and it failed. GM replaced the engine as. On Jan 15th 10 days after my first oil change just before 5000 miles the engine began to knock. After being towed 100 miles to the original dealer the replacement engine has blown and now I am waiting for another replacement.
Vehicle has experienced repeated internal engine failures related to the exhaust valve lash adjusters and valvetrain. The engine developed abnormal valvetrain noise, misfires under load, and loss of power. The check engine light would only flash during hard acceleration or when passing another vehicle (wide-open throttle), then turn off after approximately 10–15 seconds and never remain illuminated. Because the warning light would not stay on, the vehicle continued to be operated without clear indication of an active or worsening engine failure. Dealer inspection confirmed exhaust valve lash adjuster failure, which led to camshaft and valvetrain damage. This failure has occurred more than once, including after prior dealer repairs. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle was driven at highway speeds and during passing maneuvers while experiencing internal engine damage and misfires, without persistent warning to the driver. Sudden power loss, stalling, or catastrophic engine failure during acceleration or...
On December 12th, while on interstate 10, my engine started making clanking noise, it started to stall and jerk. I had try to get over to the shoulder of the interstate. I had to restart the truck to try and get off the interstate. It died out. I tried to restart and it did, just enough for me to get it off the interstate. It was finally towed to the dealership. The mechanic said it wasn’t under warranty. They say the rocker atms are bent and 2 pistons were damaged the charge The mechanic also said that my engine in my truck was too small for my truck. He doesn’t know why they use it …. They want $8700 to make the repairs, GM will not assist in cost off to r repair. I’ve come to find out this is a common problem in this model of my truck.
The vehicle intermittently enters a reduced power/limp mode resulting in a sudden loss of acceleration while driving. This has occurred multiple times, including while towing, when the vehicle was unable to safely maintain or reach highway speeds. The loss of power creates a dangerous condition when merging or driving in traffic. Warning messages indicating reduced engine power have appeared, and diagnostic trouble codes have cleared without repair. Despite this, the problem continues to reoccur. The condition is intermittent and not consistently reproducible during dealer diagnostics. The vehicle is currently available for inspection.
Engine seized up at 70 mph on highway. Loss of all power and was lucky to coast off road in heavy traffic. Vehicle had just passed safety recall inspection two weeks earlier. Replacement engine installed at dealership, but it failed and second replacement engine currently being installed.
My Chevy Silverado was repaired by 3 different certified Chevy dealers about 10 times for a variety of issues. The last time I brought my truck to Bridgewater Chevy I was told I need an engine replacement. The certified dealers failed to identify the root cause to all the issues. All the symptoms point to engine fail eventually occurring
I've owned the 2022 Silverado High Country with 6.2L engine. Over the past 3.5 years, the engine has had oil consumption issues where I was required to take the vehicle to Chevrolet dealership every 500 miles in Hampton, VA to have the oil level checked. I kept getting the message "low Oil Level" on the information center. I also kept hearing loud ticking noise coming from the engine. Chevy service would top off the oil level (sometimes 1/2 or 1+ quart low), and send me on my way. After oil consumption and ticking noise continued, I was notified by Dealer that a Safety Recall April 2025 was issued by GM. I met with GM Representative and Chevy Service Manager April 2025, and based on my truck history with oil consumption and lifter noise, decision was made to replace engine. New Engine was installed May 2025 and all appeared to be...
The engine started knocking and squeaking. Mileage is 42,142
Since brand new engine has had oil consumption issues. Countless times I have been told it is ok and there is no problems with it. I took it to a different dealer and I am now being told I need to replace pistons and rings.
BACK ROAD - 25-30 MPH, TRUCK "SLOWED" WENT TO ACCELERATE WITH NO RESPONSE, TRUCK WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND "PRESS START". SLOWED AND STOPPED NEAR SIDE OF ROAD. WOULD NOT RESTART. ENGINE SEIZED. TWO HOURS PLUS LATER, ABLE TO GET TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL TO TOW TO STEPSONS HOME. SERVICE CONTACTED AND TOW TRUCK DRIVER (ALSO UNKNOWN TO HOW TO GET TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL TO GET ONTO FLATBED) TOWED THE TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP TO AWAIT INSPECTION AND REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE. BATTERY DISCONNECTED CURRENTLY. HOWEVER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AFTER EPISODE.
At 62,000 miles this engine blew up after regular maintenance.
Megafuse on starter solenoid terminal of the buss bar has blown twice in a month, leaving a serious burn mark on buss bar where contact is made with fuse. Possible fire hazard inside engine bay on top of battery. This also keeps the vehicle from starting. 1 click, no start. Battery has full charge, jumping has no effect. Possible cause is ground wire short/fault between negative terminal and vehicle frame/body. No check engine light, no battery light, or any other indication of issue with starter or battery.
Vehicle has used an abnormal amount of oil since new Now uses 1 quart of oil every 500 miles Have been trying to get recall inspection done for three weeks with no response from dealer or manufacturer
I am writing to formally report a serious issue with my 2022 Chevy Silverado which I purchased brand new. Within just a few months of ownership, during a routine oil change, I was informed by the service technician that there was an oil leak. I took the truck to the dealership, and they claimed the issue was resolved by replacing the oil pan. However, the oil consumption continued, without knowing and still, no warning lights ever appeared. As the engine is the heart of any vehicle, this ongoing issue posed a serious safety risk, especially while driving on the highway. Eventually, after the warranty expired, the engine issue worsened. I contacted GM and the dealership again, but I was told that GM could only offer minimal assistance toward a new engine — despite the fact that this engine exhibits the same oil consumption problems reported in other V8 engines currently...
GM is recalling the Fuel Injector Flow Rate system but is unwilling to fix damaged parts from the Flow rate being off. My Engine has Misfiring, pitted Cam, camshaft lobe wear, valves and needs a new head stemming from the Fuel Injector Flow Rate being off. GM is refusing to support their product. This is a known issue GM is having with these engines.
General Motors has identified a problem and will not fix or replace the car or engine. I have asked multiple times and there is no answer as to when this recall will be fixed. This is unsatisfactory, it explains that this can cause engine failure and still no answers from GM about this. They owe every single vehicle a replacement motor before someone gets hurt.
Dealer (Bob Howard in Edmond Oklahoma) has failed to address Recall N252494000 for over 90+ days now after several inquiries from owner.
2.7l turbo l3b Chevy Silverado started skipping and throwing codes. First the coil packs and plugs were changed. Then crankshaft and camshaft sensors replaced. Then the fuel rail and direct injectors replaced along with harness . Still skipping and making loud noise on startup. Reduced power, etc. mechanic finally got the camshaft carrier off and the very back two exhaust rocker arms were in the carrier. One had lost all needle bearings and one seized up along with both valve lash adjusters broken in half along with one bent valve. As of today, 30 July 2025, I went to buy rocker arms, part # 12701225, and the dealership wouldn’t let me buy them because it’s supposedly getting discontinued so now I have a fairly new truck with no parts to complete repairs.
I have a 2022 Chevrolet 1500 Trail Boss with the 6.2. Intermittingly when starting off at a red light or from a stopped position, when you press the gas pedal to go the engine will stall and then will suddenly pick back up after a second or two. This intermittingly issue makes it very dangerous when turning in front of oncoming traffic, or in a situation when sudden acceleration is needed. The motor ticks even at idle when running. Also, when you come to a stop at a redlight, the engine shuts off, when you release the brake to go, the auto start restarts the engine. On my truck, when the starter restarts the engine, the starter will not disengage. You have to put the truck in park, turn the switch off and manually restart the engine to make the starter quit spinning over. This problem is also intermitting. Sometimes...
I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the failure of the 6.2L V8 engine in my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (VIN: [XXX] ), which is currently under recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000). On Thursday, [XXX], while traveling for work approximately 30 minutes from my home, the engine suddenly failed without warning—just two days after I received the recall notice from GM, which acknowledged the defect but stated there was no current fix available. Fortunately, I was able to safely pull over and was within sight of Hometown Motors (Chevrolet dealership in Fruitland, ID), but still had to pay $100 out-of-pocket to have the truck towed less than 1/4 mile. The dealership later confirmed the engine had failed and ordered a replacement, with an estimated repair time of three weeks. I use this truck daily for my small business, where I co-own and operate a window covering company. The truck is...
At 53,000 miles the Coolant Control Valve has failed 2 times. A very common problem many owners have had. 1st CCV replaced at 45,000, second lasted less than 10,000 miles. Truck is forced into “reduced acceleration”. Part is on back order with no estimated ship date. Some owners are reporting wait times of 3 months or more. No loaner provided, was told truck is “safe to drive”. With reduced acceleration the truck struggles to get up to speed and has hard time maintaining even 65mph. It’s compounded when towing, making it near impossible to maintain pace with highway traffic. My vehicle is basically rendered useless as I use it regularly for highway commute and also towing. The vehicle may be “safe” in that it won’t blow up, but it’s certainly not safe to drive when it can’t maintain even the speed limit. If a quick acceleration is needed to avoid...
I was driving my truck with my two young children in the back seat. I was accelerating to merge onto the interstate, and at 8th gear (around 74 MPH) I felt and heard a BANG and lost all propulsion, as if the transmission went into neutral. I revved several times and had no power to the wheels. I had to quickly check traffic behind me and find a place to stop on the side of a busy interstate, with two young children in the truck. While decelerating, I had no engine power and the transmission shifted from D to N to P while I was still moving - although it felt like it was still in N. As the truck decelerated, the engine shut off while in motion (around 30-40mph) and I came to a stop. As I was coming to a stop, I noticed I had a solid CEL/MIL...
I have a 22022 Refresh Silverado 1500 High Country with 12,500 miles that gets a "Service Transmission" warning and kills the engine leaving it in the traffic. When trying to restart the truck it just keeps flashing errors and can't be restarted for about half hour. This has happened twice to me so far. The codes recorded are in the attached file.
The engine has been rough idling after being put in a GM certified repair shop multiple times within the last year. Also the oil pan has a constant issue with leakage even after doing 3000 dollars worth of work, including the oil pan being replaced. There was a safety recall put out for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for this very problem that my vehicle is having ( engine loss of propulsion) recall # N252494002 L87. This is affecting our livelihoods.
I was driving after 2 weeks of purchasing the truck the engine light came on and a message on the dash board that read loose of engine propulsion the truck was having a very hard time accelerating and it was jerking and it would not go into reverse at all this happened on May 30th 2025
The engine started to shake violently while traveling down the interstate, my speeds reduced against my will. My safety and the safety of others was jeopardized while I'm traveling down an interstate with a minimum speed of 70 mph and my truck speed reduced to 35 mph or less. After an inspection from the dealership, I assumed the responsibility of having the engine rebuilt that cost me thousands of dollars. As the vehicle started to reduce speed is when the onstar alert went off. After having my vehicle for 10 ten days I receive it in worst condition that I gave it to them. Approximately 2 weeks later, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership which they diagnosed it as needing the throttle body replaced. I allowed the dealership to fix that issue. Upon them returning the vehicle to me, I now have an electrical issue. The dealership...
Coolant control valve malfunction on my truck with 43300 miles that causes my truck to go into limp mode. Took to dealership and was told I had to pay for an update to the ECM computer that is tied to the warning light. I was told that there are lots of recalls for this part but that I have to pay for a software update as a first line step to see if this will fix the issue. This is a known part failure that needs to be recalled and resolved and owners shouldn’t have to pay for software updates to fix there faulty parts.
I live in Eagar Arizona, we are currently under evacuation orders due to the Greer fire. My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado is not usable to leave the area. Because of the well known and seemingly unaddressed issue of a "coolant control valve" my truck has less than 29000 miles and is, in my opinion unsafe to use to escape a forest fire. I am sure there are other safety concerns applicable to the KNOWN design flaw. More importantly Chevrolet seems disinterested in resolving this nationwide problem with any type of expediency.
