The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after five minutes. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.
My 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 keeps stalling/dying when making turns. There is zero correlation to speed, stop and go, slow, fast, sharp or gradual turn, acceleration or slow rolling start, hard stop then start. It happens mostly when turning right, or left, mostly right. It 's happened 12 times from July '22 to January '23.Dash only shows mileage when it dies. (digital). Rest of console is black (similar to when remote started). It has happened when remote started (twice), other times when manually started with the key. I have tried to recreate stalling turning/starting fast/slow/sharp, etc in empty parking lots while videoing multiple times without success. I took it in to dealer's service center in January '23. They trouble shot it, determining that it was a faulty fuse box and changed that out. It has continued to occur despite this "fix." It has occurred 8 times since January, four of...
Took to the dealership and they did a diagnostics and are requiring me to purchase a new transmission valve. The truck only has 84,000 miles and they have to Remove and replace transmission, Transmission has burn smell, color of fluid is dark, excessive metal shavings present the problem I presented to the dealership was that after you exceed the speed of 50 miles an hour the truck starts to jerk and pulls on you and there’s a very screeching sound every time you accelerate and it always jerks hard on the highway and it feels like if I’m being hit by something from the back
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH and approaching a bend, the vehicle lost motive power and shuddered. The traction control and check engine warning lights were illuminated. There was smoke coming from the vehicle. The vehicle had previously lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that there was a possible electrical failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure was approximately 88,799.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while stopped at a stop light, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to respond. The check engine warning light and the service stabili-trak warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to notify the manufacturer of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
UNKNOWN The ignition, steering wheel, and electrical. While driving it flickers off and on, turns off the engine, unlocks my doors and turns on again. Yes, our safety as well as others are put at risk this can cause an accident to happen on the road while driving, most likely to get rear ended. Today it gave me a scare because my 2 year old granddaughter was in the truck.
My engine cooling lines are leaking and that can potentially cause a very bad problem to my engine itself imagine I'm driving and they pop off causing me to lose all my oil and then my engine can drown and sudden stop while I'm on the highway I was first aware of the problem when my veichle had to be taken in because the transmission was failing at around 55000 miles the dealership told me about this problem which said did not need to be addressed since it's a small leak on the lines but once I got down under my truck and took of the undercover it's more than a small leak now I'm facing having to spend money on a veichle that should not be giving me problems yet at the miles it's at I'm trying to get a hold of my extended warranty to see if it's...
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on multiple occasions, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vent valve solenoid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, a month later, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel filler neck needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the metal lock ring had rusted and the metal lock ring, fuel pump, and fuel pump sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the dealer, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage...
Service Trailer Brake System message appears and disappears constantly, check engine light.
Sudden loss of vehicle electrical power as well as steering and break control due to faulty negative battery terminal. Engine will stall and steering wheel will kick back and issue a stabilitrak service message. Vehicle will become inoperable while still moving with no way to control.
During the mornings when first starting my truck, I get a stutter or hesitation to the engine when accelerating out of my driveway. This happens just about every morning. I have determined that the truck has to be off for about 10+ hours. The stutter/hesitation goes away after the car warms up in about 1 mile. Have had the truck into the shop but they can find NO problems.
Faulty injector connectors get a loose connection and make truck shutter and check engine light come on . This has happened 3 times already and had to replace one faulty plug . This is all over the internet from other l5p owners. Yet gmc want do anything
Our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was purchased new and only serviced at Chevrolet dealerships. While on vacation we were driving on a 3-lane paved road and then engine started knocking for a few seconds and then a chime could be heard and the check engine light came on. The vehicle lost power and the vehicle was difficult to control. We were fortunate that other vehicles were able to avoid us since our truck slowed quickly (without the brakes being applied). The vehicle had to be towed to a local Chevrolet dealer for diagnostics. The dealer found that the hydraulic lifters on the right bank of the engine collapsed (resulting in a misfire) and there was extensive engine damage. The vehicle was equipped with a 5.3l engine with AFM/DFM (cylinder deactivation). Mileage was 64,562. Vehicle was repaired with "upgraded" valve train parts from General Motors as this failure mode seems to...
I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 that I bought in June of 2018, brand new from integrity Chevy in Chattanooga tn.. One ago ago I was driving home and the check engine light came in and starting running poorly and you could hear a knocking noise coming from the engine. I took it back to integrity Chevrolet in Chattanooga, the employee at the auto service counter got inside and started the truck and he new at once what the issue was, he didn’t even take it back to the shop so the mechanic could look at it. He told me it was the lifters knocking. I left the truck with them. The next day he called me and told that the lifters where bad and had bent push rods. They had to replace everything on both sides, told me how much it would cost. It was out of warranty...
10 degrees outside starter motor will freeze up and not want to start the truck. had 3 mechanics not a deal all look at it, tested the battery and came to the starter motor is defective. to have the starter replaced at the dealer for its under warranty.
Vehicle will not start, starter is bad
Driving on highway 70 mph with out prior warning the truck begins to shake, backfire, lunging, loss of power, all the lights on the dash starting going crazy, cars behind me trying to avoid hitting me ,it wouldn't speed up, having a hard time getting it off the road and out of the way of highway traffic before getting rear ended by traffic behind me. The truck only has a little over 60000 miles on it which is just beyond the 60000 mile warranty, The truck lost compression because of a lifter failure in the motor. After this I have no interest in ever buying another Chevy product, If they cant build a motor that will last more than 3 years maybe they should rethink their future in the auto industry.
radiator crack. and also looks like previous years have the exact problem and have a special coverage done on them, Special Coverage Adjustment 15829 Radiator Leak #PI1513A Bulletin No.: PI1513F
Twice now GM has recalled the block heater for my truck. The first remedy did not fix the issue and had to be recalled again. This was back in July 2021. It is now the end of November 2021 and nothing more has been done. My truck requires a block heater in order to start in the upcoming cold months. This will make two years in a row I cannot use my truck when the temperatures fall below freezing. It directly affects my livelihood because I need a truck for work. What more can I do to speed this process up? How is it GM can still sell new diesel pickups with working block heaters, but are not required to fix the older diesel pickups?
The engine gave out at 60k miles. Only covered buy the extended warranty I bought. the transmission thunks on downshifts. The exhaust adaptive valve started making a terrible noise at 40k miles. I took it to the dealership for them to tell me my extended warranty doesn't cover it and to buy an aftermarket exhaust because it would be too expensive to replace it. I think they quoted me at $1200
On Saturday the check engine light came on then Sunday it flashed service restraint system soon dash lights came on clicked and lights stayed on about a memory then went off truck wouldn’t start on Sunday night no lights on dash worked
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated he replaced the battery and was able to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while the vehicle was parked. The contact stated he was able to jumpstart and restart the vehicle however, as he was exiting the parking lot and making a right turn, the vehicle inadvertently stalled almost causing him to crash into a wall. Several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact jumpstarted the vehicle however, the failure reoccurred while driving and he veered to the side of the road. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The radio, the headlights were engaging and disengaging independently. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact...
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The "check engine" light keeps coming on.
Radiator started leaking at 40,000 miles. Leaking at a weld where tube connect to side tanks.
REDUCED POWER STEERING ASSIST ENGINE STALL IPC / RADIO / HVAC GOES BLANK VARIOUS DTC. HAD MY HEAD LIGHTS FLICKERING, HAD STABILITRAK ERRORS, POWER STEERING ERRORS, AND THE WORST OF ALL, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKING OUT OF MY HANDS. ISNT MY VIDEO BUT SIMILAR WHEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 5MPH [XXX] PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
BULLETIN NO PI1513F DESCRIBES AN ISSUE WITH CHEVY SILVERADOS (AMONGST OTHER MODELS) AND THE RADIATORS LEAKING DUE TO OVER CYCLING OF THE THERMOSTAT. I HAVE A 2018 THAT IS BARELY 2 YEARS OLD, AND A LEAKING RADIATOR! GM IS DOING NOTHING TO OWN UP TO THIS ISSUE, AND THEY ARE EXPECTING ME TO PAY THE ENTIRETY FOR A REPLACEMENT, AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE CONFIDENCE IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS BULLETIN SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER ALL YEARS UNTIL GM PROVES THEY HAVE A SOLUTION IN PLACE. IT IS COMPLETELY UNETHICAL FOR GM TO NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND EXPECT ME TO PUT THIS MUCH MONEY INTO A BRAND NEW TRUCK. I SLOWLY BEGAN TO NOTICE THE COOLANT RESERVOIR GOING DOWN. I EVENTUALLY BROUGHT IT TO MY DEALERSHIP (TWICE), AND ON THE SECOND VISIT THEY FOUND THE LEAK, ALTHOUGH MILEAGE WAS OVER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY DURING THE SECOND...
COOLANT WATER KEEPS SPILLING FROM WATER PUMP. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE PUMP BLEW AND SPILLED ALL THE COOLANT AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE. HAD TO GET IT REPLACED PAID $150 FOR THE PART AND THAN LABOR ANOTHER $150. TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 30K MILES AND THE WATER PUMP ALREADY BREAKING DOWN. NEW VEHICLES ARE NOW DESIGNED TO BREAK ON YOU EASILY SO US CUSTOMERS SPEND MORE ON PARTS AND LABOR.
TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS WHEN BACKING A TRAILER UP A SLIGHT HILL AND WILL NOT MOVE UNTILE IT COOLS DOWN.
I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. GAVE THE TRUCK GAS AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. PUT THE TRUCK BACK IN PARK AND LOOKED AT THE GUAGES AND THERE WERE NO RPM'S SHOWING ON THE CLUSTER AND THE OIL PRESSURE WAS AT ZERO. THERE WAS A MESSAGE THAT SAID TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE SCREEN. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I PUT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD MOVE FORWARD BUT THE MOTOR RAN VERY ROUGH AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. I DISMISSED THE FIRST MESSAGE AND ANOTHER MESSAGE POPPED UP THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED, DRIVE WITH CARE." I PULLED INTO ANOTHER PARKING SPOT, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF, AND WAITED FOR A RIDE. I STARTED THE TRUCK WHEN MY RIDE SHOWED UP TO MAKE SURE IT WAS STILL NOT...
TRUCK WILL LOSE ALL POWER, EVERYTHING WILL SHUT OFF, AND THEN COME RIGHT BACK ON. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC, SLOWING DOWN TURNING RIGHT AND TURNING LEFT, AND WHILE MOVING STRAIGHT AHEAD. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ONCE FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND THEY TELL ME THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE STABILITRAC WARNING WILL COME ON AND GO OFF AND HAVE HAD STALL WARNING FLASH IN TRAFFIC AT STOP LIGHTS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 12,000 MILES AND I HAVE 20,083 MILES ON TRUCK NOW. THE CLOCK AND RADIO RESET. IT SHUTDOWN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. BEEN TRYING TO GET IT INTO DEALERSHIP SINCE 3 WEEKS AGO AND NO LUCK. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY ISSUES WITH THIS TRUCK.
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE TOWING EMPTY 12' TRAILER, THE ENGINE STOPPED AND RECEIVED STABILITRACK MESSAGE AND TRANSMISSION TOO HOT. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER LETTING ENGINE COOL DOWN. HAD THE TRAMISSION FLUID CHANGED TWO DAYS LATER. DEALER JUST STATED THEIR WAS A LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE ENGINE. ONE WEEK LATER RECEIVED TRANSMISSION HOT, IDLE ENGINE MESSAGE ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE HAULING THE SAME TRAILER WITH ONLY A RIDING LAWNMOWER. PULLED OVER FOR 30 MINUTES AND DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AT A REDUCED SPEED. HIGHWAY SPEED WAS 70 MPH UNTIL IT OVERHEATED, THEN DROVE 50-55 MPH TO GET TO MY DESTINATION TRYING NOT TO LET TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE OVER 220.
THE PLASTIC RADIATOR HAS CRACKED AND IS LEAKING COOLANT HEAVILY. TRUCK STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BY GM IS ONLY OFFERING TO COVER 20% OF THE $1,823 REPAIR COST. I NOTICED IT WHEN STOPPED TO GET GAS, THE VEHICLE LEAKING APPROXIMATELY 1.5 GALLONS OF COOLANT WHILE STOPPED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT AND NEEDED TO ADD COOLANT JUST TO DRIVE TO SHOP. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD FROM FIRST TO SECOND/SECOND BACK TO FIRST. I NOTICED THIS ABOUT A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING TRUCK. SHIFTS HARD MOSTLY IN 2WD, NOT SO MUCH IN 4WD OR HAULING/TOWING. LEAF SPRINGS AND SHACKLES HAVE SQUEAKED SINCE DAY ONE OF PURCHASE. ENGINE OIL PRESSURE IS AT 12-15PSI AT IDLE AND WILL NOT EXCEED 32-35 PSI UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS WITH OR WITHOUT A LOAD. I'VE CHANGED THE OIL FILTER AND OIL PRESSURE SENSOR MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE A CHIRP/TICK COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO NARROW IT DOWN FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS. SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING GOING ON IN THE ENGINE ITSELF OR POSSIBLE THE AC COMPRESSOR. TRUCK HAS 42,450 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENT, THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. THE CONTACT CALLED J.B.A. CHEVROLET (7327 RITCHIE HWY, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061) BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AS THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A CALL BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
ITS A BRAND NEW PICKUP TRACK WHEN I GOT IT AFTER ONE YEAR A ISSUE CAME UP WITH CARAMEL LOOKS LIKE LEAKING UNDER THE TRUCK, RADIATOR COOLANT GOT MIX WITH ENGINE OIL. NO WARNING LIGHT , ENGINE MIGHT OVERHEAT OR ENGINE MIGHT LOCKUP. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND JUST FLUSH THE LINE. I HEARD SO MANY COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE. BUT NEVER HEARD ANY RECALLED.
STARTER IS BAD, DRAGS WHEN COLD OR ITS DRAWN THE BATTERY DOWN TO WHERE IT WON'T START. JUMPED IT ONCE, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT THAT 650 COLD CRANKING AMP IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THE STARTER. WE NEED TO GO TO A 1000 COLD CRANKING AMP PLUS A 200 AMP ALTERNATOR. OR WE COULD JUST REPLACE THE STARTER WITH A GOOD ONE.
WHEN VEHILCE GOES FROM 6 CYLINDERS TO 4 CYLINDERS IT SHAKES REALLY BAD AND CAUSES HEADACHES AT ALL SPEEDS ! WORSE AT HIGHER SPEEDS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD THUD NOISE OUTSIDE HER RESIDENCE. A NEIGHBOR CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HER VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY PLANNED TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE AND UPDATE THE CONTACT ON THE STATUS; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
VEHICLES ENGINE AND IGNITION SHUT OFF WHILE TURNING RIGHT. ENGINE CAN BE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN 3 WEEKS (1090 MILES) UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED. ONE TIME WHILE ENTERING A ROADWAY FROM A PARKING LOT, ONE TIME WHILE PULLING OVER TO PARK AND ONE TIME WHILE TURNING OFF OF A HIGHWAY OFF RAMP. THE DEALERSHIP, HEALEY BROTHERS OF MIDDLETOWN, NY ATTEMPTED TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO AND HAS NO ANSWERS AS TO WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM.
