No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact became aware of abnormal oil consumption and sound coming from under the hood. The local dealer was contacted; however, the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The mechanic replaced the fan belt and the water pump; however, the mechanic installed an incorrect water pump on the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fan belt and the water pump needed to be replaced; however, the water pump was on a national backorder.
