VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. STABILITRAK SERVICE WARNINGS. ACCELERATION ISSUES.
DURING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, ESC WARNING COMES ON, VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND SHUDDERS. WAS MERGING ONTO FREEWAY WHEN ENGINE LIGHT AND ESC LIGHT CAME ON, CAUSING VEHICLE TO REDUCE POWER, FORCING AN IMMEDIATE REACTIONS TO AVOID COLLISION. DEALERSHIP SAYS ISSUES CANNOT BE FOUND.
PROBLEM HAS HUGE ACCIDENT POTENTIAL. *DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN MODERATELY HEAVY TRAFFIC. *TRAVELING AT A 65-70 MPH TO KEEP UP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, I BEGAN RECEIVING "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" MESSAGE ON MY INFO SCREEN. * THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON (AND I IMMEDIATELY START COUNTING HOW MUCH TIME AND MONEY THIS WILL COST ME). * THERE IS A SLIGHT JERK/PULL OF THE CAR WHERE IT IMMEDIATELY STARTS A DRASTIC REDUCTION IN SPEED DOWN TO 20-30 MPH. * I'VE HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO STOP THE CAR (I PRAY I AM ABLE TO DO THIS SAFELY). *EVENTUALLY, I FOUND THAT BY SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF COMPLETELY FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THE CAR SOMEHOW "RESETS" AND DRIVES NORMALLY. * OCCASIONALLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO AWAY IMMEDIATELY UPON RE-IGNITION. OTHER TIMES THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER A COUPLE DAY. * THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED BUT FAILED TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 30-35 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE VIVA CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 5915 MONTANA AVE, EL PASO, TX 79925, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED AN UNKNOWN COMPUTER FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
THE DAY BEFORE THE CAR'S DASHBOARD SAID THAT THE CAR'S POWER ASSIST WAS TURNING OFF. THE NEXT MORNING AS I WAS GOING 75 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SAID THAT ENGINE WAS REDUCING POWER AND SPEED REDUCED TO 45 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY WENT ON AND IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE KILLED ME. *TR

IT'S AMAZING ME READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND GM HASN'T ISSUES A RECALL. HOWEVER, I PURCHASED A 2016 CHEVY MALIBU USED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. WITHIN THE YEAR, I'VE HAD MY ACCELERATION PEDAL BE FAULTY, MY CAR SPEED WILL DRASTICALLY REDUCE FROM 60-70MPH TO 20-25MPH WHICH AS I'M SURE EVERYONE KNOWS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THEN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT THIS TIME IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. NOW NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS LATER, MY STOP/START IS MALFUNCTIONING. IF I BRAKE AND THE CAR TURNS OFF, MY 'START' FUNCTION DOES NOT START! I HAVE TO SHIFT THE CAR TO PARK, TURN THE CAR ON, THEN SHIFT BACK TO DRIVE. ALL OF WHICH IS DANGEROUS! I PURCHASED 2016 MALIBU 10/2016 AND AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR 6MONTHS THE CHECK ENGINE/REDUCE SPEED LIGHTS STARTING COMING ON. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK OVER 20TIMES AND THE ISSUES WAS NEVER FIXED. I ASK COULD THEY JUST REPLACE THE CALL SINCE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIXED IT. SO, AND STILL HAVING THIS ISSUES. GM EXTENDED THE RECALL AND I TOOK IT BACK IN YESTERDAY MARCH 18, 2020. I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS FIXED AND TO PICK IT UP. SO, I GET THERE DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT THE LOT. SO, I RETURN BACK TO THE SERVICE DESK AND I WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. SO I ASK WHY THIS ISN'T ON MY SERVICE SHEET I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS WIPED OUT AND THAT I HAD TO REQUEST IT. PUTTING ME BACK IN DANGER. THIS HAS BEEN A HEADACHE. I FILE A LEMON LAW COMPLAINT...
I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR HAD A MESSAGE THAT SAID ENGINE POWER REDUCING AND THE CAR DROPPED SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY TO 15MPH AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK. NOW MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON SINCE THEN. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT THE SHOP SINCE I BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW 0 MILES FOR SOME TYPE OF ENGINE RELATED FAILURE, SENSORS ETC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY CEASED IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE AND THEN TO KINGDOM CHEVROLET LOCATED AT (6603 S. WESTERN AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60636 (773) 432-3000) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY ANOTHER DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE I-10 WEST HIGHWAY AT 70MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A ENGINE POWER REDUCED MESSAGE CAME ACROSS THE SCREEN & DUE TO THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY AN 18 WHEELER BECAUSE I COULDN'T PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FAST ENOUGH...ALSO, ON SOME DAYS WHEN I START MY CAR IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY NOISE SO THEREFORE THE RADIO WILL NOT WORK, THE SIGNAL LIGHT SOUNDS DOESN'T WORK, NOR DOES THE SEATBELT SOUNDS WORK .
THE CAR WAS DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED AND THEN SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN DRAMATICALLY. AN ERROR CODE, ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, CAME ON STARTING REDUCED ENGINE SPEED. THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO SPEED UP AT ALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR THE STREETS THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER. A DASHBOARD LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE DASHBOARD SAYS ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO DROP SPEED AND LOSE POWER. IT REALLY UNSAFE AS TWICE I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED.
INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE OF "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". ENGINE POWER AND ACCELERATION WAS REDUCED DRAMATICALLY. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND ME OR I MAY HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED AND INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OFF ON SHOULDER AND TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN TURNED CAR BACK ON AND ENGINE POWER AND ACCELERATION WAS RESTORED. ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON THOUGH.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SPEED LIMIT WAS 70MPH I WAS GOING THAT SPEED THEN OUT OF NOWHERE I GOT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A NOTICE ON MY DASH APPEARED AS 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' AND MY SPEED DRASTICALLY DECLINED I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK, I HAD PEOPLE IN THE BACK OF MY CAR AND WITH AN IMPACT FROM A TRAILER WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR EVEN KILLED. THIS A REOCCURRING PROBLE WITH MALIBU'S FROM THE YEAR 2016-2019 GM KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT HAS DONE NOTHING TO RESOLVE IT. THIS ISSUE NOT ONLY PUTS THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE IN HARM BUT OTHERS AROUND AS WELL. THE PROBLEM IS THE THROTTLE BODY RESPONSE SENSOR WHICH IS ABOUT A $300-$500 FIX WHICH IS NOT AN CHEAP FIX. THEY NEED TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS BECAUSE ONE DAY THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANYBODY...
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE FIRST THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I GOT A DIAGNOSTICS IT WAS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR CODE COMING UP. I HAD THE THOTLE CLEANED.... THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF 2 DAYA LATER. THEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE MESSAGE ENGINE REDUCE POWER. I PULLED OVER SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR 10 SECONDS , START IT AGAIN AND DRIVE IT. IT DOES IT ON A DAILY NOW. AND IM TIRED OF IT THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. I GOT IT AT 28,000 MILES IT IS NOW AT 53,000 MILES. CHEVROLET KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM IS GOING ON WITH MANY OF THE MAILIBUS THEY NEED TO FIX IT. I JUST SPENT 1,100 ON THIS CAR FOR THE REPAIRS
MY 2016 CHEVY MALIBU COMPLETELY LOST POWER TWICE ON 2/6/2020. THE ENGINE SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE WAITING IN THE PICK UP LINE AT MY DAUGHTERS SCHOOL WHICH IS IN A PARKING LOT FULL OF KIDS. THE CAR JUST SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN WHILE IN DRIVE. IT ACTUALLY DIED. NO INSTRUMENT PANEL ON, NO RADIO ON, NO HEAT. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN PUSH THE PEDAL ALONG WITH THE PUSH TO START BUTTON TO RESTART THE CAR. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED ABOUT 15 TO 20 MINUTES LATER WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. ONCE AGAIN THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS THE FIRST INCIDENT BUT THIS TIME I AM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DURING THE TIME WHEN KID'S ARE RELEASED FROM SCHOOL AND PEOPLE IN GENERAL ARE MOVING AROUND THE CITY. ALL OF...

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE HAD TO DO WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
ENGINE REDUCED LIGHT
WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR SUDDENLY FLASHED THE "REDUCED ENGINE SPEED" MESSAGE, AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MPH AFTER THE MESSAGE CAME ON. THE EARLIEST DEALERSHIP APPOINTMENT WAS FOR 1/20/20 IN A CITY APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES AWAY; I CALLED THE CHEVROLET WARRANTY LINE AND WAS ADVISED TO TRY CALLING OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND TAKE MY VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED THERE, DESPITE MY REPEATED EXPLANATIONS OF THE SAFETY RISK DUE TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK TODAY (1/22/20) AND WAS TOLD THE ACCELERATOR WIRING WAS REPLACED UNDER A "SPECIAL" WARRANTY EXTENSION AND THAT THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING THE WARRANTY RENTAL CAR COVERAGE.
ON JAN 6 2020. I WAS DRIVING A 2016 CHEVY MALIBU, WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND LET THE CAR SEAT FOR MAYBE 10 MINS. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN (IT WAS PULLING NORMAL). ABOUT 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE CAR STOP PULLING AND THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT COMES ON WHICH LEAVES ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION SECTION CAUSING A VEHICLE COMING FROM MY RIGHT SIDE TO SLAM INTO THE SIDE OF VEHICLE DEPLOYING ALL OF MY AIRBAGS AND MAKING ON-STAR ASSISTANCE COME ON. IN THE RESULT I HAVE NECK, BACK AND SIDE INJURY FROM THE IMPACT. WHICH IN THE RESULT I'M GETTING SUED BECAUSE MY CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN GOING LEFT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO VYLETEL BUICK GMC DEALER, (40755 VAN DYKE AVE, STERLING HEIGHTS, MI 48313, (586) 722-0607) AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC SENSOR DEALING WITH THE THROTTLE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

THINK IT'S SOMETHING ELSE. 3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH CODE P2097, THEN LIGHT CUTS OFF A FEW DAYS LATER, DEALER STATES JUST NEEDS COMPUTER UPDATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON EVERY FEW MONTHS READING THE SAME CODE P2097. RECEIVE A SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE WHEN VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND OFF, HAVE TO CUT VEHICLE ON AND OFF UNTIL THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARS. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP PAID $300 TO REPLACE A SENSOR. STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM EVERY FEW WEEKS. THE VEHICLE RUNS FINE MINUS THESE REOCCURRING ISSUES SINCE PURCHASED.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, LOSS OF POWER. VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 20MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR HESITATES FOR 15-20 SECONDS BEFORE TAKE-OFF. THE LIGHTS AND RADIO GOES OFF AND THE DOME LIGHT GLITCHES. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COMES-ON. THE CAR HAS A REAL SLOW TAKE-OFF. THIS PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED IN JULY 2018 AND IT STARTED OVER IN THE LAST TWO-WEEKS.
WHEN I AM DRIVING MY 2016 CHEVY MALIBU WILL REDUCE SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE DASH READS 'ENGINE REDUCED POWER'. THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER 2016. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOTES OF MANY TIMES I HAVE REPORTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT BEFORE DRIVING HOME. LEMAN'S CHEVY CITY (1602 MOMSSEY DR, BLOOMINGTON, IL 61704) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST THREE WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,239.

ENGINE REDUCED POWER NOTIFICATION. 2016 MODEL HAS DONE THIS 4 TIMES.
DRIVING AT 55 MPD THE "REDUCED ENGINE CAPACITY" LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR SLOWS TO 30 MPD WITH NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP 11 MILES AWAY... NO PART AVAILABLE, THEY HAVE TO KEEP THE CAR. THEY STATE IT IS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THAT NEEDS REPLACED HOPING THIS FIXES IT BECAUSE THIS WAS SCARY
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER SENSOR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON! THE CAR SPEED REDUCED TO 20MPH AND I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE TO AVOID GETTING HIT BY THE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE! I GOT OFF THE NEAREST EXIT TAKING THE STREET WAY HOME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE SEEN THIS SENSOR GO OFF. THE FIRST TIME IT CAME ON (APRIL 2019) NOTHING HAPPEN TO MY CAR, IT WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY FINE AND THE SENSOR DISAPPEAR 2 DAYS LATER AND I HAVEN'T SEEN IT SINCE UNTIL NOW. WHEN THE SENSOR DISAPPEAR, THEN MY CAR BEGIN SHAKING WHEN ITS IN IDLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT I HAD A LEAKING GASKET. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT BECAUSE MY CAR NEVER LEAKED...
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER ALERT POPPED UP ON THE DASH ALONG WITH MY ENGINE LIGHT REDUCING MY SPEED TO 30MPH. I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. SO WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AS SOON AS THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER ALERT CAME ONE. WHEN I LEFT THE SHOP MY CAR WAS FINE. NO ENGINE LIGHT EITHER. FAST FORWARD A WEEK LATER I'M HEADED TO WORK AGAIN AND THE ALERT POPS UP. I WAS ALREADY CLOSE TO MY JOB SO I KEPT GOING. WHEN I GOT OFF OF WORK THE ALERT AND ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. FAST FORWARD ANOTHER WEEK, YESTERDAY, I'M LEAVING WORK AND THE ENGINE LIGHT POPS UP AND MY ENGINE REDUCED THE SPEED AGAIN. I'VE MADE AN APPOINTMENT THE NEAREST GM DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO LOOK AT MY CAR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO...
BROUGHT THE CAR AUGUST 2019. BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS THE NEXT MONTH. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. MY ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AND A WARNING MESSAGE READ, "ENGINE SPEED REDUCING." I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. NOTHING IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
NOTHING BUT ISSUES AFTER ISSUES AFTER ISSUE! THE DEALER DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I HAD REDUCING ENGINE ISSUES, TOOK TO DEALER AND SEEMS AS IF THEY JUST CUT A WIRE. I STILL GET THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WITHOUT THE MESSAGE APPEARING. THEN AN OIL LEAK OUT OF NOWHERE AND NOW MY CAR WILL NOT START, ON LUNCH AT WORK 30 MILES FROM HOME. EVERYONE WITH THIS CAR JUST SHOULD BE GIVEN A NEW ONE. I FEEL LIKE WERE TEST DUMMIES, NOT COOL! OR SAFE!!
THE CAR WHEN STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT START. ON STAR DIAGNOSTIC HAVE STATED SEVERAL TIMES ITS DUE TO ENGINE ISSUES. IT SOMETIMES SEEMS AS IF IT'S DROPS IN SPEED WHEN DRIVING. I WAS INFORMED BY THE CHEVYLAND DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A THOTTLE BODY INJECTION ISSUES THAT IRONICALLY MY CAR DIDN'T MAKE THE RECALL LAST HOWEVER THE SAME MAKE, MODEL CARS HAVE BEEN LISTED.
MY LOW ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON. THEN MY VEHICLE REDUCED SPEED TO 10-20 MPH.
