TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BUICK ENCLAVE EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR TPCSPEC1263MF (NA) TIRES, SIZE: P255/60R19. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS PUMPED WITH AIR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
PURCHASED A 2011 BUICK ENCLAVE WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR P255/60R19 108S, 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON ABOUT TIRE PRESSURE BEING LOW. TIRES WERE INSPECTED AND ALL 4 TIRES WERE NOTED TO HAVE SEVERE SIDEWALL CRACKING.. AFTER SEARCHING FOUND THESES TIRES HAD A RECALL IN 2013 FOR THE SAME REASONS BUT MICHELIN STATES THESE TIRES WERE PRODUCED BEFORE THEN AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. WAS TOLD BY MICHELIN TIRE DEALER THESE TIRES WERE UNSAFE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED BUT MICHELIN REFUSES TO COVER THE COST
AT APPROXIMATELY 18000 MILES I NOTICED THAT MY MICHELIN TIRES HAD SMALL CRACKS IN THEM. SINCE THEY WERE NOT WORRISOME AT THAT TIME, I JUST DECIDED TO KEEP AN EYE ON MY TIRES, FOR BULGES OR LARGER CRACKS. I RECENTLY HAD MY TIRES REPLACED, LESS THAN 40000 MILES ON THEM BECAUSE I WAS GETTING READY TO GO ON A ROAD TRIP AND DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE. MY TIRES WERE HEAVILY CRACKED AND ONE WAS LOSING AIR DAILY. I FIRST CONTACTED GM DIRECTLY (PRIOR TO REPLACING THE TIRES) TO SEE IF THEY WERE UNDER WARRANTY OR KNOWN DEFECTIVE/RECALL ITEMS. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE TIRES BEING DEFECTIVE, THEY INSISTED THE TIRES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE, THAT MICHELIN ADDS SILICA TO THEIR TIRES IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND THE SILICA ADDITION DOES NOT DO WELL IN HOT/DRY CLIMATES. THEY INDICATED THAT BECAUSE MICHELIN DOES ADD SILICA ON PURPOSE...
MY VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR 255/60R19 TIRES. AT JUST OVER 16,000 MILES I NOTICED CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALLS. AT 20,000 MILES A REPRESENTATIVE FROM MICHELIN ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS NOT A CONCERN. AT 22,000 MILES I PRESENTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SELLING DEALER AND WAS PROVIDED WITH A SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH STATED THAT THE STANCE OF THE MANUFACTURER WAS THAT THE CONDITION WAS ONLY INCIDENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE AND POSED NO SAFETY CONCERN. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH THE TIRE AND VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS WITH NO RESOLUTION. I CAN PROVIDE CASE NUMBERS AND EMAILS. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL TIRE BUT THEY TELL ME THAT THE NUMERICAL RUN OF MY TIRES IS NOT INCLUDED. POSSIBLY THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL IS TOO NARROW. MY CONTENTION IS THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF, MY...
