NHTSA Complaint #11666316 — 2021 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2021 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V9055000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed, and the failure was related to the recall. The dealer replaced the engine free of charge; however, the contact stated that she was concerned that the failure would reoccur. The vehicle was repaired temporarily. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied the request to buy back the vehicle.
