Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle was making an abnormal screeching sound underneath the floorboards. The contact stated while slowing down the vehicle stalled. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated, and the vehicle could to be restarted. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred two more times. The contact stated that the last failure of the transmission had occurred several weeks ago. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed, and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
