NHTSA Complaint #11652636 — 2021 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2021 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle lost motive power. The "Power Train Malfunction" warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was pushed to the side of the road and failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then towed to the dealer the following day. The contact was informed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle jerked and briefly lost motive power. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
