NHTSA Complaint #11640421 — 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was smoke coming from the engine compartment, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the radiator due to a radiator leak. During the diagnostic test the engine failed, and the engine was replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred 4 months later. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, who again diagnosed a failure with the radiator. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, who again diagnosed a failure with the radiator for the third time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
