NHTSA Complaint #11635812 — 2023 JEEP WRANGLER

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle started shaking violently and the vehicle was difficult to steer. The contact was able to bring the vehicle to a stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle had experienced the death wobble. The dealer removed the steering damper and completed the purge process and checked the torque of the lug nuts, and the tire pressure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Coastal Jeep Ram of Quincy (1724 W Jefferson St, Quincy, FL 32351); where it was diagnosed with the death wobble and found the star online publication case [XXX] for shimmy in front and confirmed that the failure was due to the steering damper and star online purge steering damper and performed a multipoint inspection. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Tallahassee Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Fiat, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper needed to be replaced, and a multipoint inspection was performed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. No additional assistance was not provided.
