NHTSA Complaint #11633448 — 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The RPM decreased significantly, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact referenced Technical Service Bulletin: 22-01-023H-2; however, the repair was not covered under the program. The failure mileage was 138,500.
