NHTSA Complaint #11626014 — 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON

The engine developed a knocking sound at 97,018 miles. When it was checked, it did not have any oil in it at all, regardless of there not being an oil leak in the system. The car received regular service. When we took it to Hyundai they did a test and confirmed that it was burning oil. This engine malfunction put my [XXX] daughter, the primary driver, at risk for engine failure while driving it. The engine light and knocking sound happened with no warning. Yes, the problem was confirmed by the Reed Hyundai of Kansas City. They told us that the car needs a new engine and that they bear no responsibility for the malfunction. The engine lights and sounds happened simultaneously. The vehicle was immediately stopped and towed to the dealership.
