NHTSA Complaint #11613952 — 2015 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle jerked abnormally before accelerating. The failure had become more persistent eventually causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phasers had failed, there was an engine misfire, and the timing chain and tensioners had failed. The vehicle had been repaired. The contact stated that approximately 14,000 miles after having the vehicle repaired, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer where it was confirmed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware of Customer Satisfaction Program: 2N103 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The dealer confirmed that the vehicle was not covered under the CSP. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not covered under the CSP. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 107,000.
