NHTSA Complaint #11625475 — 2015 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the temperature gauge began to indicate that the vehicle was overheating, after which he observed excessive white smoke emanating from the exhaust prompting him to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection of the engine compartment, the contact observed that the coolant reservoir was abnormally low. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent, who diagnosed a failure with the engine. The contact was informed that the engine would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
