NHTSA Complaint #11610796 — 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated and sputtered upon the depression of the accelerator pedal. Upon inspection of the engine compartment, the contact discovered that the oil level was low. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was initially informed that the failure was normal with similar vehicles. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the vehicle failed to start with the oil warning light illuminated. The contact checked the oil level, and the oil was full. The vehicle eventually started with the check engine and air bag warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
