NHTSA Complaint #11648935 — 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact was topping off the oil weekly. The failure had become more persistent. While driving 65 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and was making a knocking sound at the front-end by the engine compartment. The check engine warning light was flashing. The contact coasted to the side of the road and checked the oil level. The oil level was low, and the contact added oil to the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle began shaking, making a knocking sound from the front end, and there was white smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off, the smoke ceased, and the vehicle was left parked in the parking lot at work. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
