NHTSA Complaint #11577447 — 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA

The engine seized up while my wife was driving on the freeway forcing her to pull over. There is a settlement about these engines indicating that they consume too much oil and Hyundai offered a lifetime warranty for them which we were denied because a previous owner didn’t take care of the oil changes it appears. I have fought with Hyundai to replace this engine simply due to the fact it’s a bad engine and countless millions of customers know this. I was advised that some customers have reached out to you to inspect and sometimes this forces Hyundai to do something. If we didn’t qualify for this replacement we shouldn’t have received a brochure and we shouldn’t be in trouble for somebody else’s actions. The vehicle shouldn’t have been sold to us in the first place.
