What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle's engine has failed and the timing is off, causing knocking sounds. The diagnostic results are indicating codes P0014 and P1326. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? There have been reports of the vehicle catching fire so if I continued to drive the vehicle it could result in a major catastrophic event. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, I had the vehicle diagnosed by an independent dealer, and the car is waiting for the next appointment to return to the KIA dealership where the initial purchase was made. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, the engine light came on in September 2021, two months after I purchased the vehicle. The dealership said that it was nothing, and all the diagnostic codes came back fine at that time.
