NHTSA Complaint #11552321 — 2014 FORD EDGE

The contact’s mother owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his mother was driving at an undisclosed speed, she depressed the brake pedal, and the brake pedal became spongy and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that his mother had to apply added pressure to the brake pedal and the brake pedal extended to the floorboard and the vehicle stopped slowly. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the front brake lines were bled; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 246,000.
