Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving with the cruise control set at 70 MPH, he heard a knocking sound coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle and the oil pressure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while on an incline, he shifted the vehicle into neutral and was able to navigate the vehicle to safety. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the pistons and rod bearings had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
