NHTSA Complaint #11545430 — 2017 FORD EXPEDITION

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the blower located behind the glove box functioned intermittently, and the contact smelled a melted plastic odor. After a visual inspection, the contact stated that the wiring and components were hot to the touch. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who determined that the wiring pigtail connector needed to be replaced and that the vehicle was low on coolant. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 120,000.
