Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sportage. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road to restart the vehicle. The vehicle temporarily returned to normal functionality; however, the failure recurred. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the vehicle had experienced piston failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to tow the vehicle to another dealer. The failure mileage was 87,000.
