NHTSA Complaint #11519889 — 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle decorated instead of accelerating as intended. The vehicle was restarted, and an abnormal amount of black smoke was coming from the exhaust pipe. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 217,198.
