NHTSA Complaint #11513954 — 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the steering wheel suddenly jerked back and forth and locked. The message "Power Steering Assist Failure" was displayed. The contact stated that he was able to pull to the side of the road by using an excessive amount of physical strength. The contact had found other means of travel, and the vehicle remained on the side of the road of the highway. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
