NHTSA Complaint #11500371 — 2017 FORD EXPEDITION

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the defroster failed to work while engaged. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the failure reoccurred 3 weeks after the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the wiring under the dashboard had melted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact that he needed to pay out-of-pocket for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
