Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard a humming noise and the vehicle inadvertently slowed down while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that she was able to maneuver the vehicle off the road and placed the shifter in park. The contact then stated that after a few seconds, she placed the shifter in reverse but the engine revved and the vehicle failed to respond. The transmission fault warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and produced codes: P0731 and P0733. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was transferred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 121,778.
