NHTSA Complaint #11484019 — 2014 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 45 MPH, the transmission slipped and the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 5 MPH. Upon depressing the accelerator pedal, the RPM revved up but the vehicle failed to respond. The message "Transmission Fault" was displayed. The contact's husband veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
