NHTSA Complaint #11481831 — 2014 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle was driving rough and hesitating before losing motive power and stalling. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road The vehicle was able to be started and the engine would run, however, the vehicle failed to move in any direction. The contact waited about 10 minutes to restart the vehicle and at that point the vehicle would only move a few inches before the vehicle stalled and loss acceleration. The engine would rev; however, the vehicle would not move. The vehicle was towed and remained unrepaired at the residence. The contact had inspected the vehicle and learned that the transmission had failed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
