The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while her daughter was driving 60 MPH, her daughter heard a knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle then lost motive power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the oil was changed and the vehicle operated normally. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where metal shavings were found in the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V568000 (Engine). The manufacturer was contacted and stated they were waiting on the dealer for the diagnostic result to proceed. The failure mileage was 92,000.
