NHTSA Complaint #11449179 — 2014 FORD ESCAPE

While driving in traffic the vehicle lost drive power and would not engage into gear. No warning lamps or dashboard signals. The safety of other drivers became clear as I had to move the car (while coasting) from lane to side of road. The dealership called this a catastrophic transmission failure of the pump and suggests a full transmission replacement. My incident could have been far worse if on highway or heavier traffic. This failure contributed to unsafe conditions. I’m reporting this because I’ve read about many other instances of the same transmission problem on the same model and make and year.
