Consumer Description

I HAVE A 2017 ACCORD - IN SEPTEMBER 2019 THE BACKUP CAMERA LCD SCREEN STARTED TO FLICKER FOR A WEEK OR SO EACH TIME I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE. WHEN I CHANGED THE CAMERA ANGLE IT WOULD SOMETIMES COME BACK AND WORK WHILE BACKING UP, BUT THEN IT WENT TO A BLACK SCREEN ALTOGETHER. IT'S BEEN BLACK EVER SINCE, THE CAMERA GOES ON WHILE I REVERSE BUT NOTHING SHOWS ON THE LCD SCREEN BUT THE GUIDING YELLOW LINES. I WENT TO FIX THE CAMERA TODAY MYSELF AND NOTICED THE RECALL OF THE 2018 ACCORDS. I THINK THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING WITH THE 2017 ACCORD. I'D LIKE TO SEE HONDA TAKE RESPONSIBILITY RATHER THAN HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER $200-$350 TO FIX THIS. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY. HERE IS WHAT I FOUND THAT BROUGH ME TO THIS SITE. VEHICLES RECALLED: 232,140 OF THE 2018 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN AND 2019 HONDA INSIGHT HYBRID SEDAN. THE PROBLEM: THE BACKUP CAMERA MAY FAIL BECAUSE OF BAD SOFTWARE. THE FIX: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE DISPLAY AUDIO UNIT SOFTWARE, AT NO CHARGE TO OWNERS. HOW TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER: THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN NOV. 5, 2018. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 888-234-2138. HONDA'S NUMBERS FOR THIS RECALL ARE K2G AND V2F. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V629
