Consumer Description

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATIONS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO STAR DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (5101 S 1ST ST, ABILENE, TX 79605, (325) 698-2222) AND THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTERWARDS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAGS. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THE DEPLOYMENT INJURED THE CONTACT'S LEFT EAR, WHICH REQUIRED HOSPITALIZATION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,000.
