Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF FOUR TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT DARK. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN AND STARTED SMOKING UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.
