Consumer Description

I HAVE ALREADY MADE SEVERAL REPORTS TO NHTSA ABOUT TESLA SUSPENSION FAILURES. A TESLA OWNER IN ENGLAND HAS JUST POSTED ON THE TESLA MOTORS CLUB FORUM THAT THE BOLTS SNAPPED ON HIS FRONT SUSPENSION AND THE CAR FELL TO THE GROUND. THE THREAD HAS NOW BEEN DELETED FROM THE FORUM BUT I HAVE RECOVERED IT FROM GOOGLE CACHE. SNAPSHOTS OF THE THREAD AND IMAGES OF THE BROKEN BOLTS ARE ATTACHED. IT IS A CERTAINTY THAT THERE IS A BAD BATCH OF SUSPENSION BOLTS THAT ARE SNAPPING WITHOUT ANY GOOD REASON. THE ALLOY SUSPENSION PARTS AND/OR THE ALLOY WHEEL WOULD BE EXPECTED TO FAIL BEFORE A CRITICAL STEEL BOLT DOES. THESE BOLTS APPEAR TO BE MADE FROM 2 PARTS WITH THE BALL JOINT STEM BEING WELDED TO A THREADED EXTENSION. THE BOLTS FREQUENTLY SNAP ABOUT 1/4 INCH FROM THE WELD IN THE TRANSITION ZONE. THIS IS A DEADLY WEAKNESS. PLEASE TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION. THANK YOU. CONCERNED CITIZEN
