Consumer Description

ENGINE PERFORMANCE WAS REDUCED; A KNOCKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE; WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT RESTART. HYUNDAI DEALER INSPECTION INDICATES THE ENGINE IS SEIZED UP. SYMPTOMS ARE SIMILAR TO THOSE IN ENGINE-RECALLED HYUNDAI SONATAS FROM THE PREVIOUS MODEL YEAR. HYUNDAI DECLINES TO PAY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, BUT I SUSPECT THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS OCCURRED IN PREVIOUS MODEL YEAR, FOR WHICH HYUNDAI IS REPLACING ENGINES.
