TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE, SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. IN ADDITION, A BURNING ODOR AND A WHINING NOISE WERE PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,200.
