The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the check electrical system warning light illuminated; and engine started to make a high-pitched noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced and the battery needed to be recharged due to the faulty alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V435000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
