I just but this car but I think the seller changed the mileage on it.
Driving down highway noticed white smoke coming from car. Exited highway and warning light then came on saying engine oil low. Stopped van immediately on side of the road and had it towed. Appears the oil coolant line burst which is a known issue on these vehicles after google searching, but was never made aware. Always completed all recalls. Extremely dangerous especially with children in car.
I WAS DRIVING FROM TORONTO TO VIRGINIA ON 23 DEC 2020 AND REFILLED GAS IN SPRINGFIELD NY WALMART GAS STATION TO REFILL THE GAS. WHEN I ENTERED BEDFORD PA TURNPIKE, THE CAR SOUNDED WITH DIFFERENT SOUNDS FROM ENGINE ON THE RAMP WHEN ENTERING THE 70/76 FREEWAY. WHEN ENTERED TO VIRGINIA FROM MARYLAND BORDER AFTER POTOMAC RIVER CROSSING ON HIGHWAY 15 , THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH AND PULLED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SLOWLY AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT STARTED NORMAL AND DROVE TILL CHANTILLY VIRGINIA WITHOUT ANY STOPPING. BUT THE ENGINE GAVE ME DIFFERENT NOISES.
WHILE DRIVING I HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I STOPPED AND PARK THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE HOOD AN NOTICED OIL ALL OVER THE BOTTOM PART OF THE ENGINE. (OIL LEAK OR SEEP FROM THE ENGINE OIL COOLER PIPE).I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN STANFORD CT. AND I WAS NEVER ADVISED OF THIS ISSUE, NOR FROM TOYOTA OR THE DEALERSHIP ITSELF, EVEN THOUGH A COMMUNICATION WAS SENT TO ALL TOYOTA DEALER PRINCIPALS, SERVICE MANAGERS, PARTS MANAGERS. I SPENT $60.00 DOLLARS FOR TOW TRUCK / $148.14 ON TOYOTA ORIGINAL PARTS / $270.00 FOR LABOR. I SPOKE TO TWO COMPANY TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY NO LONGER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COVERING THIS PROBLEM AS WARRANTY COVERAGE EXPIRED ON MARCH OF 2020.I WAS EXPECTING FOR TOYOTA TO COVER MY EXPENSES AS THIS IS A FACTORY ENGINEERING DESIGN DONE WRONG. THIS IS DESIGN NEGLIGENCE TO USE RUBBER HOSES ON AN OIL SYSTEM. TOYOTA REDESIGNED THIS PART WITH STEEL INSTEAD OF RUBBER .THIS SHOWS ME THEY KNEW THE DESIGN WAS BAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. VAN'S ABS AND VSC LIGHTS COME ON BUT NO OIL LIGHT WARNING. MY MOTOR STARTED MAKING NOISE BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT RAN OUT OF OIL. THERE WAS NO OIL WARNING LIGHT. ALL THE OIL LEAKED OUT DUE TO A FAULTY OIL COOLER PIPE. THE PART IS FAULTY PLASTIC AND TOYOTA KNOWS THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART. THEY DID AN "ENHANCED WARRANTY" INSTEAD OF A RECALL. THIS HAPPENED IN MY GARAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. MESSY AND DANGEROUS.
MY VAN CUT ON FIRE LAST SATURDAR, SEPTEMBER 1ST 2019. FOR NO APPARENTLY REASON. I DROVE ABOUT 5 MILES FROM MY HOUSE TO THE GROCERY STORE, WHEN I NOTICE THE SMOKE, I FIRST THOUGH WAS THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. BUT WAS SMOKE COMING FROM MY HOOD. I WAS JUST ABOUT TO STOP AT A STOP SIGH AND I LOOK THE TEMPERATURE GATE AND IT WAS FINE, TURN OF THE CAR AND PEOPLE FROM THE PARKING LOT WAS ALREADY YELLING FOR ME TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. MORE THAN 2/3 OF THE VAN WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED IN THE FIRE.

BUCKEYE TOYOTA (1903 RIVERWAY DR, LANCASTER, OH 43130, (740) 654-3943) STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT AUTHORIZE A REPAIR OUT OF WARRANTY UNLESS APPROVED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
OIL COOLER HOSE: FROM MY EXPERIENCE, AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ FROM OTHERS, THIS IS A CONSIDERABLE SAFETY ISSUE. A RECALL WOULD BE VERY APPROPRIATE FOR BOTH ROAD SAFETY AND FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION. A SUSPECTED BLOWN COOLER LINE JUST HAPPENED TO ME LAST NIGHT, AND I WAS VERY DISTRACTED WHEN I REALIZED MY 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA (ABOUT 125K MILES) WENT FROM PROVIDING NORMAL RESPONSIVENESS TO GIVING INCOMPREHENSIBLE FEEDBACK WITHIN SECONDS. A "LOW OIL" MESSAGE FLASHED ONCE ON THE CENTER CONSOLE AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION INTO TRAFFIC. THIS LIGHT DID NOT RETURN. NO OTHER LIGHTS LIT UP AT ANY TIME. IMMEDIATELY, HOWEVER, I NOTICED HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AT THAT POINT, PERHAPS IT WAS AFFECTING THE FUEL INJECTORS. THEN I NOTICED A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. AT THAT POINT, I PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT...
THE MINIVAN SUDDENLY, WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATION RAPIDLY LOST ALL ENGINE OIL IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. AS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I GOT A WARNING ABOUT FIVE MINUTES INTO A DRIVE ABOUT LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE, WHEN IT WAS BASICALLY DRY. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS QUICKLY CONFIRMED THAT THE OIL COOLER PIPE HAD FAILED CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN. I HAVE 120,000 MILES ON THE VAN.

TOYOTA HAS A KNOWN FAILURE ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE OIL COOLER HOSE ON THIS MODEL. WITH THIS ISSUE, A DEFECT IN THE HOSE CAUSES OIL TO LEAK RAPIDLY FROM THE HOSE. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET CAN FIND MANY INSTANCES OF THIS ISSUE, WITH CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE RESULTING IN CERTAIN CASES. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT ZE2 TO COVER THIS. THE WARRANTY TERM FOR THIS ITEM IS EXTENDED TO TEN YEARS AND 150,000 MILES. I EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE LAST WEEK. IT OCCURRED AS I WAS PULLING INTO A CAR WASH. SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM MY ENGINE AND THE CAR WASH WORKER NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED AND THE HOSE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST WAS $665. I ATTEMPTED TO GET COVERAGE FROM TOYOTA, BUT MY REQUEST WAS DENIED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MILEAGE WAS AT 167,000. THE REASON FOR MY COMPLAINT IS...
OIL STARTED LEAKING HEAVILY; I WAS NOTIFIED BY A COWORKER AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR INTO FIRESTONE BEFORE THE ENGINE LOCKED UP. LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING CAME ON AS I DROVE INTO FIRESTONE LOT. TECHS TOLD ME THE OIL COOLING HOSE FAILED (AT 109000 MILES). OLD HOSE WAS MADE OF RUBBER ATTACHED TO METAL PLATES AND HAD FAILED TWO PLACES IN THE RUBBER HOSE. NEW HOSE IS MADE OF METAL SO TECHS CHECKED FOR A RECALL AND FOUND NONE. THIS COULD BE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE IF PEOPLE ARE NOT AWARE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING AND GET STRANDED SOMEWHERE OR THE ENGINE LOCKS OUT ON THEM AT SPEED.
I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS, AS I WAS PARKED AT THE ENTRANCE TO A BUSY HIGHWAY, AND JUST WANTED TO GRAB MY MAIL. I TURNED AROUND FROM GETTING THE MAIL; AND MY MINIVAN WAS ROLLING ACROSS THE HIGHWAY WITH THREE OF MY CHILDREN INSIDE OF IT. IT STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A CEMENT BARRIER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. HELLO, I OWN A 2011 SIENNA LE V6. IN COLD WEATHER, IT HAS A PROBLEM WHEN BRAKING WHERE THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD AS IT COMES TO A STOP. THE DEALER DROVE THE CAR AND NOTED NO ISSUES. HOWEVER, AS YOU CAN SEE ON THIS INTERNET THREAD, MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN WENT TO DEALER, THEY SAID ITS TRANSMISSION IS FAILED AT 55 K MILES. IT WAS IN WARRANTY AND THEY CHANGED TRANSMISSION BUT WHEN ASKED THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME MUCH DETAILED INFORMATION.
