Stability light comes on, decelerates independently, vehicle shakes and steering is somewhat compromised. This has happened rounding curves between 40-50 MPH. Has happened twice on straight road, 8/24 and 8/25/2021, traveling at 70MPH, vehicle decelerated 2-5 miles independently. I put signal on and did smooth lane change to the right to get out of fast lane, and stability light came on, vehicle shook and steering was somewhat compromised. Neither local mechanic or dealership can retrieve any codes with diagnostic equipment. Dealership told me today the light has to stay on for them to retrieve code. This has happened irregularly over the last 6-8 months but always on curves. It has occurred 4 times in 6 days last week, twice on curves, 8/23 & 8/28/2021, and the 2 lane changes above. I was pulling in my driveway when this incident happened. When exiting my vehicle and opening the driver side door this is what occurred. The driver side sliding door cable snapped and could have potentially hit the driver or me and which could have injured a body part especially the eye or hand. It also made a loud popping noise. There was no warning lights that this would happen and now the door will not open which causes a safety hazard because in case of an emergency this door may need to be opened to escape for safety reasons. BRAKES ABS NOT WORKING. CAN'T FIND OUT WHY. SOMETIMES I HAVE BRAKES, SOMETIMES I DON'T. LIGHRS COME ON AND OFF. LOOKED UP RECALLS DESCRIPTIONS SHOW TGE SAME RECALLED ISSUES BUT MY CAR HAS ZERO RECALLS. DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ,BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. NO BRAKES. I GOT OUT OF TRAFFIC AND PARKED CAR IN DRIVEWAY. PEBDEMIC CAME. NOW I NEED TO FIND A WAY TO FIX IT.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE POWER SLIDING DOOR WAS NOT PROPERLY SECURED, A BEEPING NOISE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS COMPLETED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT DISCLOSURED OF THE RESULT OF THE DIAGNOSTIC BUT WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS NEEDED TO BE ORDERED FOR THE REPAIR OF THE POWER SLIDING DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN IT GETS COLD THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 180,000.
MY 2005 SIENNA HAS SHIFT GEAR PROBLEM. THE SHIFT LEVEL MOVED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION, GET STUCKED.
REAR PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR. PROBLEM STARTED WITH ONLY BEING ABLE TO OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. NOW WE CANNOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE WITH POWER OR MANUAL MODE. WE HAVE CHILDREN AND FEEL THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS BUT OURS IS OUT OF THIS RANGE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH A NUMBER OF TOYOTA MINIVANS. APPARENTLY THERE'S A CABLE ISSUE INVOLVED. WE DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR

AIRBAG LIGHT FOR DRIVER SIDE BLINKS OFF AND ON DURING DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35-45 MPH. THIS OCCURRED AT 209,560 +/- MILES. THIS IS OCCURING WITH OTHER ISSUES IN THE ELECTRICAL MODULES INCLUDING ABS CONTROL MALFUNCTION, POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE YAW/DECELERATION SENSOR AND IT LOSES COMMUNICATION WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE. THIS SEEMS TO NOT ONLY BE AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE BUT OTHERS AS WELL FROM READING MANY FORUMS ON TOYOTA SIENNA VANS INCLUDING ONES JUST A FEW YEARS OLD.
DASHBOARD WAS REPLACED IN A RECALL AND AFTER THE SERVICE WAS PERFORMED THE AIRBAG INFLATED LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A SENSOR AND WAS NOT RELATED TO THE WORK THEY HAD PERFORMED, YET SAID IT NEEDED TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE FOR THAT AND FOR ANY OTHER WORK DONE AS A RESULT OF IT. HOW COULD THEY POSSIBLY KNOW IT'S UNRELATED TO THE WORK THEY PERFORMED IF THEY HAD NOT DONE THE DIAGNOSTIC AND IT HAD NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY WORKED ON IT?. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO AVOID HAVING TO DO ANY EXTRA WORK IT'S NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OR PAID FOR. I HAVE STRUGGLED WITH HOW TO HANDLE THE FAILURE OF BOTH POWER DOORS ON MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN. THE DOORS FAIL TO OPEN AND DO NOT CLOSE WITH POWER WITHOUT PUSHING THEM CLOSED. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN YOU PUSH THE DOOR PAST THE CATCH POINT IT WILL NOT RETURN IF YOUR HAND IS IN THE WAY. WHEN IT WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED IT WOULD GO BACK IF YOUR HAND WAS IN THE DOOR. NOW IF IT GOES BEYOND THAT CATCH POINT IT LUNGES AND WILL CATCH YOUR HAND AND WILL NOT RELEASE. THE DOORS HAVE BAD HINGES AND CABLES WHICH TOYOTA REFUSES TO ADMIT ARE FAULTY. THEY OFFER AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR YOU KNOWING THAT THE 120,000 MILE LIMIT PUTS MOST OUT OF COVERAGE. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER GAME TO PUT OFF THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMER. WHILE DRIVING ON 4 LANE HIGHWAY, I BEGAN TO SMELL BURNING RUBBER, THEN NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY DISCHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. FOUND THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT DRIVING THE ALTERNATOR AND COMPRESSOR HAD BEEN SHREDDED AND WAS HANGING TO THE GROUND. UPON A CLOSER LOOK, THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY HAD FAILED (IT HAD COME APART). IT APPEARED THAT THE OUTER RING HAD SEPARATED FROM THE RUBBER INNER RING OF THE PULLEY AND THE OUTER RING HAD BECOME MISALIGNED. THE MISALIGNMENT APPEARED TO HAVE CAUSED THE SERPENTINE BELT FAILURE. IT ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TIMING BELT COVER, THE TIMING BELT AND THE POWER STEERING BELT. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON BECAUSE OF THE FAILED SERPENTINE BELT. FORTUNATELY, I MAINTAINED POWER STEERING BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING BELT HAD NOT COMPLETELY FAILED WHEN I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY. IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN OF THE GREATEST DEGREE. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. POWER SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR FAILED IN THE OPEN POSITION. AUTO-DOOR TURNED OFF AND FINALLY WITH MUCH EFFORT CLOSED THE DOOR MANUALLY. DOOR WILL NOW NOT OPEN WITHOUT THE MAJOR EFFORT OF A FULL GROWN ADULT. FAILURE WAS SUDDEN AND UNANNOUNCED. IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT OR EMERGENCY, THERE IS NO WAY ANY MID OR REAR SEAT CHILDREN OR SMALL ADULTS COULD OPEN THIS DOOR ENOUGH TO EGRESS THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME FAILURE REPORT HAVING TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR JAMMED OPEN TO GET TO REPAIR SHOPS. FAILURE OF THIS DRIVE CABLE (AND SOMETIMES THE ASSOCIATED MOTOR) IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON-LINE, EVEN IN MUCH YOUNGER VEHICLES. TOYOTA EVEN ADDED IT TO THE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN. *JS

THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WILL OPEN ABOUT 4 INCHES THEN RETURNS TO CLOSE. THERE IS NOTHING BLOCKING THE TRACK. ESTIMATES THAT I HAVE READ HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE FROM $1500 - $2500 TO GET THIS FIXED. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN, ONE OF WHOM IS DISABLED. WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING, KEY MAY BE REMOVED. TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE KEY TO BE REMOVED WHILE THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING. REPAIR COULD NOT BE MADE SINCE NO PROBLEM COULD BE FOUND TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. *TR
THE DRIVER REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN CLOSED POSITION AND DOES NOT OPEN EITHER IN AUTOMATIC POWER MODE OR MANUALLY. THE DOOR GOT STUCK AFTER THE POWER CABLE WAS RIPPED, DUE TO RUST, AND THE DOOR WAS MANUALLY SHUT. IT IS NOW STUCK CLOSED AND CAN'T BE OPENED USING EITHER AUTOMATIC OR MANUAL WAY. *JB
TOYOTA RECENTLY RECALLED THE POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLES FOR CERTAIN TOYOTA SIENNA YEARS. THE BROKEN CABLE INHIBITS THE DOOR FROM WORKING CORRECTLY. OURS, A 2005 SIENNA, WAS TAKEN IN AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE POWER SLIDING DOOR ACTUATOR. FIVE DAYS AGO, THE OTHER SLIDING DOOR ACTUATOR FAILED. BOTH DOORS CANNOT BE OPENING CORRECTLY AND POSES A SERIOUS DANGER TO THE SAFETY OF OUR 2 YOUNG CHILDREN. TOYOTA FAILS TO RECOGNIZE ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT FAILING ACTUATORS THAT ARE POSTED ONLINE. THEY ARE CHARGING $1,100 TO FIX EACH DOOR. I TRIED TO CLOSE THE REAR DOOR AFTER PUTTING MY GROCERIES IN THE REAR WELL. THE DOOR CLOSED PART-WAY THEN WENT BACK UP. I DID IT AGAIN MANUALLY AND USING MY REMOTE 'CLICKER'. SAME THING HAPPENED. WE HAVE HAD COMPLETE SLIDING DOOR FAILURE FROM THE LATCH RELEASE MOTOR FOR BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE DOORS. THE MALFUNCTION IS ELECTRICAL AND WAS IN NO WAY CAUSED BY MIS-TREATMENT OR AN ACCIDENT. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED FIRST AND SEVERAL WEEKS LATER THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED IN THE SAME MANNER. THIS FAILURE HAS RESULTED IN PASSENGERS NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE SLIDING DOORS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THE DOORS WILL ONLY OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. *TR
OUR RIGHT SIDE-POWER DOOR STOPPED WORKING AND WE THEN RECEIVED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE "CERTAIN 2004 TO 2007 MODEL YEAR SIENNA REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES AND POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE ASSEMBLIES" EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES. WE TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY IN OUR VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THE PART NUMBERS ARE DIFFERENT. IT SEEMS IF THEY ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THESE COMPONENTS THEY ALL SHOULD BE COVERED. THE PART NUMBER NEEDED IS 69631-08021 WHICH INCLUDES THE PARTS IN THE RECALL. IT SEEMS IF THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT REQUIRED A WARRANTY EXTENSION, AND THOSE PARTS ARE SOME HOW DEFECTIVE THEN THE ENTIRE UNIT SHOULD ALSO BE COVERED. *TR
AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT WILL NOT SHUT UNLESS DONE MANUALLY. OCCURRED SOON AFTER PASSING 50K MILES. DEALERSHIP "COULD NOT DIAGNOSE PROBLEM" AND WANTED ~$1200 TO REPLACE MOTOR IN DOOR. APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT ADDRESS.
CABLE ON DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR SNAPPED AND IS NOW HANGING DOWN ON OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. CAN ONLY OPEN SIDE DOOR ABOUT A FOOT MANUALLY AND IT LOCKS AND CLOSES. CAN NOT GET KIDS IN AND OUT OF THAT SIDE AT ALL. DOOR CLOSES SHUT VERY QUICKLY AND STRONGLY WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN SITTING IN THE BACK AND TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE SIDE DOORS. *TR
OUR 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER SLIDING DOORS. ORIGINALLY, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR STOPPED CLOSING AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN BUTTON WAS PUSHED TO CLOSE THE DOOR BY ALL METHODS, ON REMOTE CONTROL, ON DRIVER'S HEAD PANEL OR ON PANEL NEXT TO SLIDING DOOR, THE DOOR WOULD BEGIN TO CLOSE THEN SLIDE BACK OPEN WITHOUT WARNING OR WITHOUT US DOING ANYTHING TO OPEN IT BACK UP. OUR LOCAL DEALER FIXED THIS ORIGINAL PROBLEM AS IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM BUT WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE COST IS TOO EXUBERANT FOR US TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR MANY TOYOTA SIENNA OWNERS AND CAN POSSIBLY BE A DANGER. *JS

DRIVER-SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR STUCK OPEN. DOOR CABLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY LOCKED-UP. DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. ENTIRE CABLE ASSEMBLY "FELL APART" WHEN MECHANIC REMOVED DOOR PANELS TO REPAIR. COMPLETE DOOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY FAILURE. DOOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY WAS SO DAMAGED IT HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED WITH NEW MOTOR ASSEMBLY UNIT. COST $1800 TO REPAIR. DOOR STUCK OPEN IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR PASSENGERS. WHEN WILL OPPOSITE SIDE-DOOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY FAIL?? THE FAILURE OF THESE TYPE PARTS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT 72,300 MILES.
1. SECOND ROW SEAT BELT LOCKED TIGHT TO PASSENGER (UNABLE TO LOOSEN) DURING STEADY SPEED AS WELL WHEN IN STANDBY. NEED TO UNLATCH AND FULLLY RETRACT IN ORDER TO EXTEND IT OUT AGAIN. 2. RACK AND PINION STARTS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND STARTS GENERATING NOISE WHEN MAKING A TURN. 3. PASSENGER SIDE SLIDE DOOR FAILS TO OPEN FROM INSIDE AND BY REMOTE. FURTHER RESEARCH CONFIRMED FAILURE OF LOCK RELEASE ACTUATOR. *TR

TOYOTA QUOTED 1800 FOR REPAIR AND SAID IT WAS A BROKEN WIRE ON THE DOOR MOTOR. YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE THE ENTIRE PIECE TO FIX DOOR. BOTH SLIDING DOORS STARTED FAILING DURING WINTER TIME. ONE MOTOR WAS REPLACED, THE OTHER ONE NOT DUE TO COST. THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WORKED "ON AND OFF", BUT IS NOT WORKING NOW. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3500.

THE CABLE RELATED TO THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR ON MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA SNAPPED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND HE SAID IT RUSTED THROUGH. THE WIRE FOR THE SLIDING DOOR MECHANISM IS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAS THIN LAYER OF BLACK PROTECTIVE COATING. IT WILL COST $1800 TO REPAIR AS THE CABLE AND MOTOR ARE ONE UNIT. IT IS BEYOND COMPREHENSION WHY AN OEM WOULD DESIGN AN AUTOMOBILE WITH THE CABLE SYSTEM EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. THE EXTREME WEATHER IN MINNESOTA WE EXPERIENCE IS QUITE TAXING TO AN AUTOMOBILE, REGARDLESS OF ELECTRICAL DESIGN. BUT TO HAVE THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS EXPOSED TO SALT AND OTHER CORROSIVE MATERIALS IS JUST REALLY BAD PRODUCT DESIGN AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED. *TR

AN ELECTRONIC PART (THE CONTACT COULD NOT RECALL THE PART) WAS REPLACED THE FOURTH TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,600. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
