While turning left from left turn lane, eyesight failed to detect oncoming traffic resulting in right front side impact. No warning, no braking action. This is an advertised safety system supposedly designed to prevent this type of accident. In addition, passenger side airbag deployed (no passenger in the passenger seat) but driver side airbag did not deploy. Newton's third law of motion says both should deploy. Significant injury occurred to the driver as a result.
I was driving my 2019 Subaru Outback North on [XXX] just North of Alanson, Michigan on [XXX] when it applied the brakes and made a noise similar to driving on the rumble strip. There were no vehicles in front of me. Scary and now I am nervous driving this car. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving in the fast lane on Interstate 5 at a speed of approximately 70MPH, with cruise control on, during clear dry conditions, my automatic emergency brake system engaged and made my vehicle come to an abrupt and complete stop in the fast lane. I lost complete control of my vehicle. I was unable to steer or accelerate. Once I stopped, I was able to use my accelerator, but very quickly my vehicle abruptly stopped again and I could not steer it. After I stopped for the second time, I was then able to then accelerate slowly and pull off the freeway into the wide left shoulder. When I turned the car off and then back on again to get out of danger, I disengaged the cruise control, and I was able to get back on the freeway and out of the fast lane. It was a clear day, no...
Windshield cracked spontaneously while parked, March 29, 2024. Temperature was approx 28°F. This was the second time in 11 months this has happened. Safelite technician said it was caused by faulty windshield heater. The first one I paid for the replacement, the second one was under warranty from Safelite. But was told if it happened again they would not be responsible.
This is known issue with the electrical system that is associated with the touch screen controls. Without any driver input, the EyeSight driver assist system was shutoff. That system controls adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, and lane departure features. Rebooting the Starlink touch screen restored those functions. The safety issue is that no audible warning gave indication that the safety features were disabled. Two icons appeared on the dash. There appears to be a class action suit that applies to the Starlink system for my model year. It is important to understand that this more than merely a problem with the entertainment features.
Spontaneous crack of the front windshield, unsafe to drive for fear of collapse into car or during a collision.
Once in a while when I back up out of my driveway the brakes slam on but there is nothing behind me. My windshield cracked and I have to get a new one.
My 2019 Subaru Outback unintentionally accelerated. I was sitting in my SUV waiting for an electronic gate to open at my storage unit. I was about 10-15 feet in front of the gate. My foot was firmly on the brake and the car was in drive. I have been at this gate many times. This time, before the gate could fully open, the car raced forward at top speed into the gate. Damaging my bumper and terrifying me! The gate did stop the car. I felt like a ghost had slammed a foot on the gas pedal!!! The breaks did nothing. The Subaru floor mat was attached with 2 pegs and sticks like velcro to the carpet. Thank God I was not at a crosswalk or in front of a building - I would have killed myself or someone else! I reported this to my local dealer and they referred...
On June 20th my front windshield began spontaneously cracking while sitting in driveway. A day later while driving on the interstate, the rearview mirror fell off windshield. Since the rearview mirror is essential for several electronic safety mechanisms to function properly, this means they were disabled and/or malfunctioning as well. After having the windshield replaced, the same thing happened about a month later (July 24, 2021) so now I have to replace it again. In both cases, the Subaru Service Manager determined that there was no chipping or other external damage to the windshield. Looking at customer forums & complaints, this appears to be a defective windshield problem that Subaru is attempting to cover up. It has been going on since at least the 2015 model year. Please help.
MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD AT THE BOTTOM/SIDE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH NO SIGN OF IMPACT WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD A SMALL ROCK IMPACT NEAR THE LINE OF SIGHT CAMERAS THAT WAS EASILY REPAIRED BY SAFELIGHT WITH NO ISSUES WITH CRACKING. TODAY I CAME OUT OF THE GROCERY STORE TO FIND MY PARKED OUTBACK'S WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK FROM THE SAME PASSENGER SIDE POINT AS THE FIRST CRACK. THE CRACK WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS A VERY SMALL CHIP LOOKING IMPACT (SMALLER THAN THE POINT OF A BALL POINT PEN) APPROX 4" FROM THE LOWER CORNER PASSENGER SIDE. I DO NOT RECALL HEARING AN IMPACT AT ANY POINT. BEYOND NOT HEARING AN IMPACT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS NO WAY ON EARTH THAT A SAFESUBARU WINDSHIELD SHOULD CRACK SO DEEPLY...
BATTERY DRAINED AFTER 25,000 MILES
CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY BEING DEAD (FIVE). THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE AND HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED BOTH TIMES. THE SERVICE APPOINTMENTS OCCURRED NOV. 2019 AND MARCH 2021.
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE VEHICLE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. CRACK IS IN PASSENGER SIDE EXTENDING FROM SIDE ACROSS AND CURVING UP. HAD SEVERAL WINDSHIELD REPAIRS NEAR CENTER OF GLASS BEFORE. MILEAGE IS JUST UNDER 34,000 MILES.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION EVENT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE AT SLOW SPEED, PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT. BRAKING FORCE WAS UNABLE TO OVER COME THE ACCELERATION. FORTUNATELY NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE. A SCARY SITUATION, CONFIDENCE LOST IN THE VEHICLE.SUBARU NORTH AMERICA CLAIMS "THE VEHICLE IS SAFE AND OPERATING AS DESIGNED."
